who are they gonna have? nico in the 5 and 3
who are they gonna have? nico in the 5 and 3
it depends on how badly they need team points. they scratched the DMR at the Big Sky Championship because they already clinched it.
if Smith decides not to run Nico, maybe Eric Le Roux or Brodey Hasty? possibly Drew Bosley but I'm not sure where his fitness level is coming back from injury.
Assuming no Nico, they could have C Sahlman, Quax, Las Heras, Nyoak, Hasty, or maybe Bosley if he’s healthy enough. I don’t think they’ll win or even score without Nico, but there are other runners on the team.
was thinking Bosley, but he's not gonna be able to run a 353, so idk
How many are they allowed to swap out? Bosley (if not injured) should be first up to swap into the 1600m depending on how hard Young ran in the 5k + if he thinks he has the legs for the 3k. I don't think they need more than 1 swap, but next up would be Quax being swapped out of the 800m since he's also doing the 3k/5k double and a DMR leg.
I think Sahlman on the 1200m leg will be fine with just a single mile race in his legs up to that point, but he'd be third out.
Nyoak and Hasty would be the most likely guys to take over for any other dropouts. Most of their other guys just aren't in shape yet. Las Heras is doubling already so he's not swapping in.
Per the Technical manual.
1. Only one qualified relay team per institution may be declared. That relay team’s declared performance
mark will be used for selection and seeding purposes. All other teams on the descending order list from
that institution must be scratched.
2. A relay substitute is an institution’s student-athlete already accepted into the Championships in either
an individual event and/or a relay event (Rule 7-7-2).
3. A maximum of four (4) relay alternates may be declared separately, but not later than the close of packet
pick-up at the Championships. A relay alternate is a student-athlete not already in the Championships
in any event.
4. The four (4) members of the relay team who actually competed and earned a qualifying position into the
Championships will be the ‘declared’ relay team for that institution and will be the only individuals for
which NCAA Championships travel reimbursement will be provided. NCAA travel reimbursement will
not be provided to relay alternates, even if they compete in the Championships.
5. An athlete on a declared relay who is replaced with a relay alternate, or substitute may still compete in
any event(s), at any time, in which they had previously been accepted into the Championships.

Or anchor?
Nah 0:51
Heras and quax are both in the 5k. Quax is also doing the 3k. The doubling back from the mile had been sort of sketchy and could mess up the final. Feels like it could be hard to score without really pushing people. Granted some most of the other schools have the same issue.
