Interesting article... A lot of this is related to their "fashion" sneakers and casual wear and not the running line specifically...basically charging too much and releasing too many different colorways of "popular" shoes.

I picked up 4 pairs of Infinity React R4s at Dick's last weekend for 70% off full price. The colorways are hideous, but they work and I know they'll discontinue the shoe (which I really like).
Nothing new here. Find your closest Nike Outlet, and keep your options open. $50 at most and you can have the go-to shoe from six months ago.
Nike desperately needs more product people in their senior leadership positions. When the company was innovating and dominating, product and marketing people called the shots. Today, a former tech executive is in charge and his lieutenants are mainly former Bain and McKinsey consultants. There is no passion any longer, just quants looking for efficiencies rather than visionaries creating next level products.
Just keep doing direct-to-consumer, dumping retailers, dropping retro looks and ridiculous collabo projects (Air Force 1 x Cheetos or some other dumb trendy tie-in) because that is really connecting to consumers and avoiding large looming layoffs.
Glad I got out years ago. I hear that the magic is gone inside of the berm and that crippling anxiety and fear dominates the employee experience these days.
I really wish Nike would just stick to their original legacy and that is athletic apparel versus fashion.
It seems like Adidas and Nike just keep copying each other, along with slight variations within their own product lines.
Like how many slightly different pairs of joggers/soccer pants does one need to make? Same goes for shoes.
I like the Tiro soccer pants from Adidas, and I like the Nike Windrunner windpants from Nike.
Not really into sweat pants or the fleece stuff. Just too dang warm and they get dirty easily.
Really wish they'd bring back more of the 90's nylon windpants again for running like the windrunners in that tapered slim fit form. Both Adidas and Nike. Especially the unlined ones because they stay a heck of a lot cleaner and are great for all year around as a shell to wear over running shorts or tights.
I also don't like how they cheapened out on things like using heat applied logos. The new Tiro 23 soccer pants are like that, versus my Tiro 17 soccer pants that have an actual embroidered logo that doesn't wash off after the 2nd washing. The new Nike Windrunner windpants are embroidered, and I like that.
Lots of my Nike running shorts the Nike logo washed off after like the 2nd or 3rd washing. So frustrating how low quality products have been in certain areas. Even my Asics, Brooks, and New Balance logos have come off if they weren't embroidered.
Just a little bit of a rant....
Heading to one this evening actually. I'll be not far from there so might as well see what they have that I really don't need but want.
Oh, I'm with you on the "cheaping out" when it comes to the logo. Heck, it's not unique to running companies and it's honestly it's just a much cheaper way of manufacturing, esp at the scale of these products. When your mass producing (and selling) 250,000 of the same shirt, it's much cheaper to just heat/screen print the logo vs. embroidery. On a single unit, the savings is probably, what 10 cents (I really don't know the answer to this)....but at the poster above said, the consultants and the MBAs run the company and they've figured out that 10 cents savings over 250,000 units, well, that saves a lot of money AND because people love the logo, they'll just buy the product again anyways.
Even Arc'teryx has done this now on some of their $300+ jackets. Gone from embroidery to heat applied logo.
I haven’t bought a pair of Nikes, running or streetwear for 5 years, their outsoles just don’t agree with me: My last pair did about 400km before there was a hole in the outsole under the forefoot…
I ruin the heel on their street wear shoes…
Asics, Mizuno and Decathlon last me about 800km and I am currently using a pair of Deviate Nitros that are still good after 1300km…
