The Hill Country is nice. Port Aransas / South Padre are nice if you enjoy the coast. The corridor between Austin and San Antonio is nice. (New Braunfels, Gruene, etc.). Fredericksburg is nice. Most places are affordable. People are nice even though they can’t drive and tend to be allergic to exercise.
With all the rain the last 2 years Cal agriculture is going through the roof. So ya we will continue to finically carry a bunch of failing RED states. Many of those who move out later seriously regret their decision.

Hill country is ok in a meh sort of way, weather for ever hiking or enjoying it is horrific for much of the year.
Fredericksburg, Gruene & New Braunfels are ok for weekend get aways but no major population lives there.
