Going against a long-engrained doctrine of ‘big mileage, Parker Valby self-discovered “The Valby Training Protocol”, henceforth changing the sport forever. The success of high school sophomore Elizabeth Leachman on that protocol is independent verification of its efficacy. Old school running doctrine goes home: devastated!
I am trying to count up injuries. Valby seemed to miss a lot of 2021 Outdoors, 2022 Indoors, and 2023 Indoors, the latter 2 with injuries for sure. Tuohy ran 2021 Indoors, Outdoors and XC, then had something minor after 2021 XC season but still won the 2022 Indoor Conference meet and then ran Nationals. Then she ran 2022 Outdoors and XC, 2023 Indoors, and Outdoors, and 2023 XC. So who was injured more? Why do you make claims so easily proven wrong?
I believe in cross-training but cross-training has limits. If P Valby ever races sub-14:20 5000m, she will have to log significantly more miles per week.
