Did the Gusties reclaim the Mid D U title? Everyone, especially the Oles and Johnnies else left the conversation.

Calvin returns with a vengeance and Lars will debut in the 10K. I'm looking forward to his battle with Bati.
Did the Oles peak in their first meet of the year?
Could Bethel's D team place 4th in the MIAC 4 x 400? I'm not sure they could beat the Carleton 800m runners with Gabe, but nobody else seems interested in running under 3:20.
Perhaps Lars should stick to only a couple events instead of trying to handle everything from a 1:56 800 up to a 31:00 10,000. He's only going to get cooked out worse at conference this year playing hero and while he's an exceptional athlete, I worry for his health. Besides, how many zyns does it take to last for 25 laps outdoors?
It seems realistic that Lars could run the 4 x 800 and tempo the 10K for points. Then he could run the 5000m. I also see a scenario where he does the 1500m, 4 x 800, and then tempos the 10K for points. I don't know that he would try the open 800m, but it's conference. If you're not going all in, why are you there?
I didn't understand why the Oles didn't get Will Kelly a day one event last year. I know Power is big on getting all his bubs a chance to run at the championship, but it seems like that doesn't help his team score.
Because he doesn't want to cook his athletes for nationals...
How does a single day double of Steeple and 5000m accomplish that? Did Kelly even break 15 in the 5K last year? Carter almost walked him down in the steeple too.
The fact of the matter is his teams are so much better in cross country and that's largely because they don't have to worry about his pacing and "race strategies." That may carry on for another year, but based on the freshman group the rest of the MIAC has nothing to worry about. I've heard his incoming recruiting class is subpar again too. Makes you wonder how long the Ole alumni will put up with that.
Bro does not know ball
His strava mentions steeple drills. Could be an interesting event for him. I'd say 9:15 easy which should put him second and maybe a win if he sits on Kelly.
me if I had zero ball knowledge
If Lars runs the 10K this weekend does that mean they won’t chase the MIAC DMR record at Drake? Maybe just the 4 x 800 with Wallin, Douglass, Boone & Neu or Kubicek?
Hope they put it together. It’s fun seeing a UMAC team taking MIAC records.
Say what you really mean. Taking St. Olaf records. They hold both the 4 x 800 (7:33.39) and DMR 9:51.70 from the 1980 Drake Relays.
St. Scholastica could easily top the DMR considering their Indoor marks, but maybe not with a 10K in Lars's legs. They have shown they are willing to load their men up, so maybe they run him anyway.
The 4 x 800 seems doable though. Let's say Calvin runs 1:52 and Tucker 1:53. Then they need only need two 1:54s to secure the record. Douglass has run 1:55 and Kubicek has run 49.2/1:22/1:58. It doesn't seem a stretch to think he could be in the ballpark of 1:55. While I'd feel more comfortable with a fresh Lars and his 3:02 1200 speed Scholastica has plenty of options.

Congrats to the Gusties on securing the conference lead in the 4 x 800 and, taking a page out of Power's book running an outdoor 3K.
When’s the last time anyone even ran a legit outdoor DMR?
drake accepted times are out...
Oles only have one accepted entry. The whole Bethel team got in. Lars in the 10,000m. St. Scholastica also running the 4 x 400m along with the DMR. The Carleton decathlete is throwing javelin.
One I missed, the Cobbers, better know as the Steeple U of the MIAC, are running the DMR and every other relay they can gain MIAC supremacy in.
correct
Keep hating fool
Not even an Ole, but I can't stand to see their guys getting disrespected like this. They have a nationally qualifying cross country team, their team scored the most distance points indoors, and likely will again outdoor. But not just their varsity squad, all of the guys who have been growing and developing, regardless of the unorthodoxy, and you can't deny it's not working. Look at their roster. Look at where some of those guys have been, and look at where they'll be going. Give these guys a chance to just enjoy the sport they love. Same goes to every school, but you really want to single these guys out just because they're visibly successful.
Lars is entered in the steeple at St. John’s and the 10K at La Crosse tomorrow. I’ll be super impressed if he pulls off that double!
More likely he’ll debut in the steeple and had entered the La Crosse 10K in case he didn’t get into Drake.
The real question is there anything this man can’t do? Pole Vault might take a few weeks to pick up by I think he could score in triple jump or hammer throw is he had enough Hamm’s to fuel his journey.
