Lots to talk about what were the workouts in the 90s (and 80s). The guys from the 90s doing 15-25 miles a week say the kids now are doing more and so is the guy in the 80s who ran 45mpw.
No one has yet to answer the question: what are all these sub 9:00 guys doing now? Given the shear numbers many must be on letsrun. Or there must be many coaches on here. So let’s just bucket 4:10 and sub 9 together… what does a typical guy like that do for training?
I would guess 60-70mpw at around 6:30-7:00 pace, hills and thresholds runs and longer intervals of 800-mile with little rest. Probably not a lot of speed until end of season. Based on many of these guys 400 and 800 times that seems like the “formula” to me.
