Because most of those threads were all started by one crazy person who overhyped the poor team. They didn't ask for him to put them on the spot like that.
Could also be that Milesplit ranked them as #1 in the nation last year over Newbury Park once
Some people thought that Jesuit would be #1 in the country in 2023 because:
- Newbury Park was going to lose everyone from the Sahlman / Young family
- According to the TullyRunners 2022 preseason rankings, in 2021, Jesuit had these speed ratings for 2023 returners- Vocke(178), Sampedro(174), Crawford(173), Mullen(171). Also freshman Monahan was coming in and ended up doing very well in 2022
Rocky Mountain is talked about a ton. Their boys and the coaches all post on here, which is a big part of the reason. Any post that talks about Idaho cross country and uses the name of well known runners as the poster, starts comments off by saying they aren't on the Rocky team, or seems to have good insight into the team is directly from the horses mouth.

I would say Shen's goodwill has pretty much dried up as they've been mediocre for a decade now. FM is still quite well-known, but COVID was definitely the beginning of the end for them.

famous as in annoying. never made in nxn. never run fast times on the track. got lucky and was 6th in the merge. has only 3 returners so they will disappear next year. annoying
