PARKER VALBY and the Alabama DUO: achieve something NEVER done in HISTORY

In the last 25 years (Modern Era) there has only been a VERY SELECT FEW women who have run 6km on ANY legitimate 6km cross country in under 18 minutes. The last one I can recall was Faith Kipyegon

Sub 18 minutes 6km is traversing 5km in 15 minutes flat and slightly picking it up in the last kilometer. That basically what Parker did today at Regionals but the BAD NEWS is at 5km she had a 50 meter lead and in the last kilometer the Alabama DUO ate up most of her lead and almost caught Parker VALBY . Making it the first time I have seen 3 women in one 6km cross country race run sub 18:05. Parker VALBY and Katelyn you have competition for Individual Women Champion now. WOW

Based on the times the course is highly questionable. It reminds me of SECs last year.

You are saying she is capable of running a legit 15:00 on a hilly course and then picking it up over the next kilometer? Really dude?

The course seems to have been roughly 200 meters short. If you believe the times, they ran the last 1000 meters at a pace that is roughly equivalent to a sub 3:55 mile.

How effing hard is it to measure a course accurately? Course measurers - you have 1 job - to measure a course accurately. Do that job or resign in disgrace.

It is a lot better than you think it is. You should actually take a look.

The timing company had some weird splits. They had 1000 meters. 1 mile, 2460 meters, 3020 meters, 4000 meters, 4560 meters, and the finish, 6000 meters. Valby came through the 4560 m mark at 14:12.5. Assuming that was an accurate distance, her 5000 time would be about 15:34.8. Doing the math and extrapolating what her last 1000 would have been, assuming the course was accurate, would give us a time of roughly 2:25. That would mean that she was running 3:53 per mile pace for that last 1000.

Valby ran a great race today. She and everyone else in the race just didn’t run a full 6000.

the precision and the accuracy of the splits seem at odds with each other

Yeah… pretty clear this wasn’t a full 6k. Weird splits they chose to list, as well. Still, a dominant performance by Valby and the Alabama duo looking strong. Nationals will be exciting to watch

I don't take these projections at all seriously. Based on what I have seen I will say 1) Tuohy 2) Valby, and the rest.
