Does Hoka have a deal with every Orthopedist Everywhere?

Working at a running shoe store and so many referrals from doctors and PTs deal with just Hokas, and scrolling on any social media and stumbling upon a practice/influencer says something about Hoka too.

I can't think that it's that uniform, though, and not everybody benefits from a Hoka. Good shoes, but it's almost like the classic 9/10 dentists recommend but apparently everyone recommends (except for the one weird PT that recommends Altra to "strengthen the foot").

So do they have a special partnership? Or is it just one of those crazes, because being on the shoe tech end of things shows that they aren't objectively that special.

I was at the podiatrist the other day and he said "have you tried Hoka?"

I said "yeah I hate them."

I don't understand the appeal of Hoka, they must work only on a certain foot type. There is nothing soft or cushiony or bouncy to me about any of them. They feel like bricks.

Yeah all the con Ed classes in ortho , the instructors always mention to recommend Hokas to the fattie walkers. Just like recommending Superfeet insoles to the fatty pronators with PF.

I mean it's not even that I don't like them, it's that people think a doctor's word is gospel but I think that gospel has ulterior motives...

They're supposed to be objective but it just doesn't make any objective sense to keep pushing this brand.

At least Superfeet aren't pushed (as much as the practice's insoles, that is), and both have redeeming qualities.

It's just like one facet of all of the things that can help, but it's the only one that gets shown to these people who need help. No way my 80 year old grandmother is stable in a Hoka and helps the same way it does for a kid with plantar fasciitis. But according to an orthopedist it does...

Hoka One One is like if someone gave you a racing flat and put a brick under it. I've found a Brooks shoe I liked. I loved Avia. I've enjoyed Asics. Saucony and NB did me well and I've liked Nike and Reebok for cross trainers.

I think Hoka is garbage.

All my sister’s fellow nurses swear by them for work.

Personally, shoes like Hokas (and the super shoes, regardless of brand) throw off may gait and make my knees ache.
