From Eagles PR -
We've elevated WR Devon Allen and P Braden Mann from the Practice Squad for tonight's game.
At 28, he'll be the oldest non-punter Eagle to make his NFL debut since 30-year-old Brandon Bair in 2014.

A good reason to watch the game tonight, hopefully he actually plays

Allen will be almost like a modern day Vince Papale who debuted for the Eagles at 30 yrs of age.
Why isn't he used as the gunner going down on punts, used on your kickoff and kickoff return teams?
There isn't a defender in the league who can run with him, Why not send him long a couple times,
With a 10.36 100m PR, there are many NFL players who can run with Devon. There are a few dozen HS football players that can run with Devon
Hope he gets to play and does well!
Devon is not able to play in the NFL. This is just a publicity stunt. He cannot play at this level.

Are you thinking of DK Metcalf? Allen ran a 10.20 last year (and a 10.12 with wind), but it's not his main event, he rarely competes in the 100m.
The league minimum as a rookie for being on the active roster for 1 game is about $45k. Good for him.

That's poor.
GO BIRDS.

I'm getting 10.20 (+1.8) / 10.12 (+3.1) in the WA site for Devon. That being said, Kalon Barnes who is currently on the PIT PS has run 10.22 (+0.9) / 10.04 (+3.2). I'm fairly sure he's the only current NFL CB who is faster than Devon, as someone who pays very close attention to these things. Would love to be updated if there's a faster CB.
I think he's in because one of their usual returners, Boston Scott is out on the week. He might return a few kickoffs.
Every Devon Allen fan should be an Eagles fan tonight.
Would like to see him either field a KR/PR for big yardage or make a big hit/tackle on special teams.
I would bet that there are a few guys as fast as Allen in pads and cleats, especially on grass.
We’ll see if he looks “football fast” tonight, hopefully.
Can’t believe I will be paying attention to an MFL game😱

No there aren’t. If you lined up the NFL for 100m races today the amount breaking 10.5 would be in the single digits and not defensive players. Those highschool players running national caliber times now are way too small to play at a D1 P5 level and will usually redshirt their first year while they put on size or they get snapped in half the first time they compete. 200 lbs is the bare minimum at even the D1 collegiate level let alone NFL and all of these guys running are 175 and less, most probably in that 160-something range.
Does no one realize that gaining 30-40 lbs of muscle over your college and pro career, smashing your knees and ankles every day, and neglecting track specific training for 3+ years will turn any 10.0-10.3 guy into not a 10.0-10.3 guy?
Literally the equivalent to some mildly overweight middle aged dude that ran a fast mile in highschool/college, who now lifts and jogs 20 minutes 3 times a week. No one goes “yeah that guy runs a 4:00 mile, he’s gonna wipe the whole field at today’s turkey trot” because he hasn’t done that in a decade and because he’s decided to stop weighing 145 lbs and running 85 miles a week… he’s not gonna be doing anything close to that. It’s gonna be more of a “dang, that’s impressive that he broke 20:00 at his age and size”
