Kiptum is tall as well, only 3 cm difference between him and Jakob. I think Jakob would focus on the marathon at the later parts of his career, after Olympics in LA. He said he wants to keep the 1500m until atleast 2028, and be the first to win 3 olympic 1500m golds. Perhaps he will go for 5000, 10000 and marathon in 2032? Now wouldn't that be something. Would be pure speculation if he could do it obviously, but one thing is certain: It would be entertaining as hell.
As he transitions into the marathon, he will probably lose a little bit of weight and adapt his body and training to excel at the distance. He will exhaust every single possibility to bring out his maximum potential in the distance. Will it be enough to run a WR? I would say it's plausible, but will be very, very difficult.
A point to mention: Jakob has talked publicly and conifdently about his chances in the marathon, and I think he does it because he knows he might have excellent potential there. All of this remains pure speculation until we actually see him compete. Perhaps we will se him try out the half sometime after 2025? That would enable us to actually make much, much better predictions.
By the way, Jakob is currently the double xc Euro champion on a hilly 10K course, with no specific xc training, just vastly superior endurance to the others. If you watch the 2022 race, you will see thats it's not even remotely close. This is probably our biggest indicator on his capabilities in the longer distances, maybe a hilly 10K is about the same as a 11-12K flat? Pretty impressive from the 1500m olympic champion if you ask me.
The hardest records for him will probably be the Marathon and 1500m.
The others seems quite possible at this point, with some varying degrees of difficulty. Nothing is certain, but the 3000m and 5000m surely seems to be the most likely ones to fall next year.
