Rest In Peace, Tori Bowie.

Really numbing news. Some of the articles say she was found at her Florida home. If it was self inflicted I hope the family seeks and accepts all counseling. My sister committed suicide 6 months ago. It really doesn't get much better. There is devastation, anger, blame and regret...all in varying doses, coming and going. Plus the legal matters. But the grief counselors do offer a valuable sentence here and there that is memorable, and can soothe when needed most.

I wish Torie had remained active on Instagram. I remember checking her channel when I joined. She had been quite active then totally stopped. I just checked again and it looks like she never resumed. Final post in fall 2019. The positive feedback might have helped her. Even if you aren't competing or doing much of anything the Instagram followers will supply Likes and positive emojis to any sight of you.

The London gold was truly memorable. In fact, I remember where I heard about it, in the SwimSwam comment section, of all places. I was saving the track tape for later and never imagined the result would be spoiled on a swimming site.

On the bigger picture...let's always remember elite athletes are human too....Never be too quick to judge or condemn.Always be just,fair and considerate.Always respect the fact that they have loved ones,fans and always think twice and reread your post before you click the send button.....

This is so sad and shocking. She was our best sprinter for a number of years and I wondered what struggles she had been having to get back to a competitive level. I truly hope this leads to better resources for the athletes in our sport so they can have access to even basic levels of health care.

This one makes me sad. I don’t follow sprinting but I really liked Tori and followed her career a little. Awful.

She was not blackballed by USATF...they don't even have the ability to blackball someone.

Torie had a few unfortunate incidents that she could not seem to get ahead of, some of the unfortunate things going on in her life were not related to the track. Torie was by nature shy, she is from a small-town, poor but close-knit family; success came quick and went away just as quickly. Torie was forced into the limelight of track and field, modeling, having money and as result being pulled in several directions. - I don't know any specifics about the cause of death and don't want to speculate too much, but I had heard from someone a year ago that she had been struggling.

So sad. I miss her fantastic running. When Tori got the baton, we never had to worry.

Be kind to one another as much as you can manage, and may Tori’s memory be a blessing to her friends and family.

This makes me so sad to hear. She was amazing and I wish her family peace.

So very sorry to read this news. A few of us on another podcast were talking about her last Friday, and wondering if she was going to show this season. A great loss. This is very sad indeed.
