Kipchoge has been able to run away from the competition without being challenged much, in so many of his races I think he most likely got a little bit overconfident. His preparation may have lapsed a tiny bit. In a major, a tiny bit is all it takes.
I don't think he'll let that happen again. If he runs NY, I expect him to win convincingly.
It is not the hills that killed him, but the rainy, cold weather. Same happened in London 2020
Did E K call you or text you and complain about rain and cold weather? No.
Kenya is not Nigeria. Most of the year, Nairobi is (40 to 80)F. E K is not from Nairobi, he is from a higher elevation, correct? Temp. in Boston today (45 to 55)F.
I do not believe he was 18 when he won his first Olympic medal, I believe he was 20. I believe he is 40 now. Circle of life. E K is not the only man who raced near his best Marathon into his late 30's. Time for some new guys in Marathon to show us what they can do.
Also, why is it you age losers never take into account that he was the same age for his last race? Which in this case was a 30 second world record with a less than ideal positive split.
He was too old to win the olympics. Too old to win tokyo. Too old to win berlin. Now you “get one right” for once and have to scream from the rooftops that you’re a genius and this is the beginning of the end.

The man is 38 years old. At 18 he won the greatest 5000 meter race ever. to be running at a top world level 20 years later is unheard of. How many other world class runners have been at the top from 18-38. none that I can recall.
I’ve always been more of a Bekele fan, but you can’t deny Kipchoge’s resume. I picked Chebet to win today, but I thought it would be a lot closer with Kipchoge.
I like him even more for going after it, having a tough time at the end and still pushing through. I don’t know if it was the course, conditions, or just an off day that almost every marathoner has way more often than Kipchoge.
He won some marathon track races. How can we call him the best of all time when he never won a marathon on a real course? A real course destroys Kipchoge.
Then who is the best of all time?
It's obviously Fauble. Top American three times at Boston. So inspiring.
The goat is not a human. The goat is the marathon. It has the ability to humble ANYONE. It’s not throwing a ball through a basket or down a football field. Those things don’t have the ability to humble you. However, glycogen depletion is the goat and always will be. It’s obvious Kipchoge got sucked into the fast early boston downhills which came to bite him on the tail end. The thon will always be the true goat.
Kipchoge is the same age Michael Jordan was when he signed with Washington. Do we lessen Jordan's achievements due to him hanging around too long? Neither should we for Kipchoge.

Kipchoge’s handlers surely frequent letsrun and other places and have seen the massive speculation about his doping. He sandbagged and lost on queue. Now they can say, “See no drugs.”

He’ll win his next 3 races guaranteed.
“hey some dorks on the internet think your cheating, you’ll have to lose out on $400,000 and accomplishing one of your career goals”
An utterly witless assertion. That would not dispel all the doping speculations as evidently many will (and have already said) that he is "off the juice" because he lost. People who throw out unsupported doping accusations aren't logically coherent and will see any action whether it be winning, losing, being consistent or inconsistent as a sign of cheating. Go figure.

If he’s not the best marathoner ever, who is?
This take is exactly correct. Kip is a robot in a human body, and everyone’s body breaks down eventually. Bekele and hicham were a little faster - they proved that in their primes and never had to go full-robot

Since he’s already a multimillionaire, the payday is not more important than his legacy and future racing winnings. He can still and will accomplish his “career” goal next year. Besides, if he truly cared about Boston he would have done it long ago. More like he’s running out of boxes to tick, but that doesn’t sound so good in interviews.
