When did he die?
A pretender. Not exactly a contender, I always considered him overrated. he benefitted from Kim MacDonald's Kenyans dragging him to fast times. He virtually never won a race....

Compare this with Bernard Lagat who is always a contender. No comparison I'm afraid.....

yes, you are alone in your dip$hit opinion.
Jesus look at all those fast times. Tergenkamp runs one fast race a year. Solinsky will probably match that record eventually and maybe Rupp but as of now no American (other than Lagat) matches that.
And its a similar story with Croghan in the steeple.
Did you bother to notice the averages at the end of your stats? Uh, Kennedy, on average, was faster and more consistent. And considering Bob was running against doped up competition (94-99) and Lagat was/is racing during a much more stringent period of drug testing (05-10'), Kennedy is superior to Lagat.
Would you be willing to share that video somehow? I was also in that race (back in the pack also!) but would love to see it. Please email me.....
I was running at Eagle Creek Park in Indy at dusk back sometime around 04. I saw this guy running towards me with just terrible form. I thought, "what's this f-in guy's problem?" When we passed it was BK (whom I had met before and talked with on a couple of occasions b/c of mutual friends.) He was just jogging (or cooling down) but I couldn't believe how he looked compared to his form running normally.
I had seen him in town running on several other occasions, especially on the canal or Butler track (his preferred track workout venue). Once as a post-collegiate, I was doing a workout with ex-teammates on the BU track after he was finished working out. He stuck around to watch us and his presence alone helped us run about 5 secs faster on each of our 3x1600s. If I remember right the workout he did before us was 5x1000 and he was methodically consistent on his splits (within tenths on each).
I always thought the secret to his success was staying relatively injury-free through his prime. Kind of the way Solinsky is able to train without interruption. But he also used to take an entire month off of training each year, which I found unusual.
