of the OP does include the words…”too much of a good thing”.
No one is questioning the need for exercise, even some intense stuff.
What scientists are increasingly starting to question however, is how much is too much? At what point does exercise cease to have any beneficial effects…at best, or become detrimental to health…at worst?

They did intensive HIIT training !
So definitely not endurance training.
