Disapprove, because an "Open" category would be a win for the LGBTQ who have been trying to disrupt the concept of a strong Man for a long time.
They'd lick their chops at taking away a "Mens" category.
Itd be comprised of men and people with mental illness. Unwatchable. No one wants to watch the main pack of strong men lapping a bunch of flailing transvestites.
Can’t tell the sarcasm, but such policies would be grounds for suing the school for discrimination against trans as a group. High school is already a stressful popularity contest to throw voting-based inclusivity into the mix.
Presumption of innocence until proven guilty: you’d punish a trans kid for misbehavior just like you would a cis kid that can misbehave too and bully fellow bathroom goers, but that possibility isn’t the starting point for everyday policy.
Because that wouldn't work. Once a male body has gone through male puberty, lowering of testosterone will affect the body only so much. Males will still have a latent advantage because of male puberty that you can never completely get rid of.
Definitely support her logic. She recognizes her own identity and accepts it. But understands there are physical differences in genders and strength, speed and agility is part of that biological makeup. Martina accepts her lifestyle and isn't delusional that women and men don't have genders.

Males have athletic advantages even before going through puberty.

It effects it enough that basically no trans athlete would be competive. A 3:32 guy transitioning and moving up to being an Olympic champion is a non issue. Just not enough of them. Now if a 3:45 guy could transition and there might be enough that we would have 1-2. But the evidence is that 3:45 guy would no longer be breaking 4 after 2 years of hormone reduction. Go look at any of the dsd athletes to see what it did to their 400-1500m times.
The problem of course is in HS athletes where a couple years really isn't practical.

Of course, I don't think it is doable in real life. But my point is that treating every trans person equally is probably against the instinct of other people, especially the ones most directly affected. And their instinct is probably right.
So in real life, it's either the vast majority of cis girls have to endure extreme discomfort of sharing the locker room with a creep, or the trans person most cis girls like will be sent to a separate room for changing. Either way, this one creep will ruin the school life of many cis girls, or the school life of another trans person.
For whatever reason, that just doesn’t feel quite right to me. Maybe I’m just not evolved enough. Someone super evolved like you or a person three generations from now may not be as uncomfortable with this as it becomes the social norm. Black people had to wait like hundreds of years and even now some people still hate them, so if you think trans people are on that trajectory, good luck! At least most of youwill have the benefit of being white.
Prejudice ain’t worth it, kiddo. Take care.
That’s interesting. You think prejudice is a choice.
I recently knew two black guys. One was an absolute gem. Lovely. The other was a thug that nearly managed to rob me. I’m not exactly sure how to reconcile my anecdotal inconsistency to arrive at a satisfying character assessment of blacks.
Right, so if we’re following along here, you’re saying that the second person in my story should be allowed to change in a high school girls locker room. Not allowing this would be akin to a modern day Jim Crow law. Opposition to this is transphobic similar to how opposition to racial desegregation was racist. If the girls in the locker room feel uncomfortable or are made to feel uncomfortable by this person, I’m guessing they are also transphobic? Or are they just kind of unlucky in a “life isn’t fair” sorta way?

I don't think other girls are transphobic if they feel uncomfortable with the second person. If they start feeling uncomfortable with the first person because of their experience with the second person, then I think there are transphobic.
A creep is a creep whether they are cis or trans, hetero, gay or something else.
Actually in most sports there is the open and the womens devision, e.g. golf, baseball, basketball, etc. It's not called the mens national basketball association. Track and field is actually in the minority here and going against tradition.

This is an undeniable fact. No matter what side people are on on this issue, Semenya went from 1:55 to 2:05 by just reducing her T to 10 nmol/L. Imagine if she had to reduce it to 2.5! She may not even be able to break 2:15.

*Violin music playing in the background* So sad that some sub-elite guys won't be able to win Gold medals by pretending to be women anymore.
