22And should men quarrel and hit a pregnant woman, and she miscarries but there is no fatality, he shall surely be punished, when the woman's husband makes demands of him, and he shall give [restitution] according to the judges' [orders]. 23But if there is a fatality, you shall give a life for a life
There is no ancient Hebrew word for miscarriage. You're copying from someone who's embellishing the text so it matches their argument.
People were unaware of miscarriages 2,000 years ago?
What is it with all these anti-religion liberals trying to argue out the abortion issue from a religious angle? Like they care about that stuff in the first place.
Does anybody really think that they feel that religion is the way to sort this out? They're paranoid about theocracy, yet they keep bringing religion into plocy discussions to tell you that in order for us to be more religious, you have to see it their way. As though they are pro-religion when it comes to constructing policies.
Thank you Rocky. Jesus loves you for the work you are doing on this message board. Guns, Babies, Jesus and prayer are the only way this nation will ever return to God.
That's right.
Look at that compared to your stupid solutions what's your nothing but built-in destruction tactics for societies. You want to embrace every form of sexual deviency, deconstruct all traditions , promote satanism, atheism, have no standards, removing mental illness from being categorized as mental illness and instead encouraging it. No law and order, defunding the police. Bowing down to rioters& terrorists on one knee. Lol.
Yea all THAT will work out.

Whatever, you gas lighter. You'll probably be in agreement with everything said in that transgender shooters manifesto. People already pointed out that you freaks were going to start to justify the actions that his shooter and blame the victims and you're already doing that.

They all agree with it that's why the manifesto will never see the light of day.
If it was a M@GA screed they'd be handing it out on street corners and running it 24/7.
People like this clown think the real victim in the shooting is the shooter.
The entire left is just as mentally ill as that literally d*ckless shooter.

No, it's that you misinterpret your own religious arguments.
Take your favorite topic - homosexuality. It's often thought the Bible says it's sinful as "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination."
However, in the original Hebrew language the Bible was written in, it's more accurately translated as "lie with a male in the bed of a woman" (i.e. a marriage bed), meaning it's an abomination for a man to be adulterous with a man, not a rejection of homosexuality entirely.
It's subtle translation errors like this, that change the argument entirely.

James T. Hodgkinson, the man identified as shooting a Republican member of congress and four others on Wednesday morning, was a small business owner in Illinois who defined himself publicly by his firm support of Bernie Sande...

A more logical person would argue that Jewish and Christian behavior over the last few thousands years were more indicative of what they text meant than your 21st century opinion.
If your argument had any validity to it at all homosexuality would have been accepted in the early days. It was not.
The Old Testament in Hebrew says "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind; it is detestable."
People were unaware of miscarriages 2,000 years ago?
Or they knew about them just had no word for it?
Well inserting that word over the actual Hebrew words changes the meaning of the text.
Of course, this is why there's multiple versions of every religion. Quibbling over translations.
Personally, I don't think you need ancient books to condemn abortion.
Abortion became an issue for religious conservative evangelicals when they realized that it could score points in politics. Randall Balmer wrote a piece last year ahead of the overturning of Roe on it.
W. A. Criswell was president of the Southern Baptist Convention and in 1973 said, “I have always felt that it was only after a child was born and had a life separate from its mother that it became an individual person, and it has always, therefore, seemed to me that what is best for the mother and for the future should be allowed.”
Carl F. H. Henry, founder of ‘Christianity Today,’ stated that, “a woman’s body is not the domain and property of others.” In 1968, the magazine held a conference among 26 Evangelical leaders who issued a statement on abortion that read, “Whether the performance of an induced abortion is sinful we are not agreed…but about the necessity of it and permissibility for it under certain circumstances we are in accord.”
James Dobson stated that the Bible made no comment on abortion and that it was tenable for a Christian to be believe that, “a developing embryo or fetus was not regarded as a full human being.”
Roe v Wade was decided in 1973 and yet Jerry Falwell didn’t have an anti-abortion sermon until 1978. What also happened in 1978? The midterm elections, and conservative evangelicals were rabid at having lost to evangelical liberal Jimmy Carter. One of their first test cases was in Minnesota for Walter Mondale’s open seat. The newly anti-abortion Republicans won Mondale’s former seat and their new cause had been found.
No, it's that you misinterpret your own religious arguments.
What difference does that make to you? Do you want to correct the record on religion or something? Why? We're talking about political policies here, legal policies. If you don't think religion should have anything to do with laws, why are you jumping in the religious argument?
One minute you don't want theocracy, and the next minute you act like you actually do, but we need to get it right.
If you think the current media is still doing journalism you're kidding yourself.
There was no manifesto in there either it was all gleaned from his social media.
Nowadays they scrub the social media as fast as they can particularly if it doesn't fit the narrative.
You’re right. So much as changed since the Astros won the World Series. Ancient history.
”They” really are in charge. “They” won’t even let you click on that link or let you know that he was a rabid Bernie supporter. “They” won’t let you know any of it.
When I read Rocky's posts it reminds me exactly of the characters in a Steven King novel.
Anyway, Back to the topic at hand. Are we getting closer to stopping these mass shootings after 42 pages? More use of thoughts and prayers? How about more guns? Better doors? Returning Prayer to school? Ridding the world of homosexuality?
I feel we are right on the cusp of cracking the code on this one. These are great suggestions.
