No not really. I like Abby too ! she is a good sprinter but a world beater at 200 is not going to happen .
Technically, to be a world beater, one would need to win the world championship or a gold in the Olympics. Shericka Jackson was the only world beater last year. Steiner may never be the world or Olympic champion, so I guess you’re correct.
That said, she’s the 10th fastest US runner of all time. That was near the end of a season in which she probably competed too much. It’s not inconceivable that Steiner could end up on the all time top 10 list. That may not make her a world beater but it’s pretty damn good.
^ doesn't seem to understand the concept of fair use. Youtube is using generally accepted standards established by court cases.
As to OP, don't try to hate your way out of this! Can't hate me wrong! But look, 50 mid for a woman is pretty much 45 high for a man.
Pretty good for indoors, but in the same ballpark as her 200s?
50.59 indoors is more like 45 flat/low indoors for men which is pretty fast. Indoor women's 400m record is 49.59 but there's a lot of suspicious runners for the indoor all-time list on the women's side. Lot of soviets and east Germans.
I didn’t watch this video but saw a different one.
She looked pretty gassed at the end but that was a good effort. It seems that Tim Hall is having her do these 400s to build her up for the 300 at Millrose. I’ll not be surprised if she breaks the indoor 300 world record at that meet. Eager to see what she does in an outdoor 400.
Yep, she was definitley gassed. Little would have beaten her if it had gone another few meters.
She started too aggressivley. What was her first 200? 23.4something? That is merely a matter of her not being that familar with competing in the 400. She'll get better.
Really curious to see if she's going to move up to 400 for the outdoor season.
It's probably a lot easier to make the US 400 team at Worlds (even if Sydney moves to the flat) than the 100 team, but then running 3 400m races at Worlds could be tough physically and take away from her main focus, which is the 200m.
I definitely think Steiner can make a 400m final at Worlds since she's in sub-50 outdoors shape, but it's unlikely she'll medal if Miller-Uibo, McLaughlin, Eid Naser, Paulino, and Sada Williams are all racing the event. However, I do think it's an event she's likelier to be a future medal contender in compared to the 100, so moving up now could still be an interesting proposition.

Yes she has a chance. This calculus doesnt always workout but she is awfully fast at a young age and has some weird form. Can only get faster one would think.
Oh, and she is also..."a stunning woman"... while we are keeping track.
Abby was pretty much destroyed in the WC final at 200 losing by 10-12 meters so you figured the 400 would happen sooner than later . def a 200-400 sprinter now . Never heard the expression 400 flat before . if it’s a relay you say leg or carry
She peaked at Nationals, as Ato Bolden said, "I've seen anyone run 21.77, and 21.80 on the same day"! Her 21.77 is one of only four times under 21.80 that was run into a headwind! Twenty women have run sub 21.80. Abby Steiner is also one of only 3 women to do that under the age of 23. Most are between 25 and 30 years old, so she's got a long way to go before she hits her peak. 5 or 6 women have run sub 21.7, that would seem doable over the next 5 years.
What I thought was most impressive was her leg in the 4 x 100, third fastest split of the event! And that came after the 200 competition was completed, whereshe was clearly running out of gas.
I wouldn't read too much into what she runs for times this year. Athing Mu ran a similar number of races 2 years ago, phenomenal year! But she ran slower this past year on a lot less racing, so it might be possible that such a heavy schedule takes it's toll, eventually. Next year might be a better indicator of her full potential.

Syd can beat Bol over the 400 WITH hurdles. What makes you think that if she does run the 400 that she can’t beat her over the 400 WITHOUT hurdles? Also there’s Miller-Uibo & Paulino.
I also like Bol but let’s not proclaim her the best before we even know if she’s going to concentrate more on the event.
Yeah I think it was exhaustion from season. She had the second fastest wind legal time in the 200 last year at 21.77 into a headwind. Only Sherika had a faster time at 21.45 with some wind at her back. Same track but different dates/conditions. If wind conditions were equal you are talking about .25s over 200M which is a decent gap but not like she's out of her league and again #2 time last year so definitely world class. At least for last year.
