It destroys pretty much any NCAA thread. The obsession with her is unbearable. She is a crazy good athlete, but that doesn't mean others can't also be good. Everything has to devolve into "yeah well could xxx beat Tuohy"
All sides have posted dumb stuff. We’re just focusing on Tuohy and Valby fans because those have been two of the most popular topics of discussion recently.

So Valby and Cook fans post a thread.
^ yet she could probably lap you in a mile even if she gave you a 1 lap head start.
With comments like yours it’s no wonder she hates this forum.
Letsrun should have one designated Tuohy thread and one designated Valby thread so the fans can get it all out of their system in one place. While we're at it, they might as well create an Irene Riggs thread because she's next.
I have to agree. I like to disuss all runners but the Tuohy fans lose it if anyone makes positive predictions about any other runner. True fams would support positive things and would discuss it rather than insulting the posters. I really try not to insult other psoters. 95% of insults are from Tuohy fans. Valby fans praise her and predict that she can beat Tuohy. That doesn't mean they don't like Tuohy and they don't insult the Tuohy fans for liking Tuohy. Calling people stupid is about as low as it can get.

Really bad idea. That would only drive away posters and reduce site traffic. If you have a topic you want to discuss besides Tuohy, then start your own thread or comment in those threads. It’s not the fault of Tuohy fans that others aren’t talking about the topics they want to discuss.
Tuohy is interesting, in the way she's discussed here.
I think the "fans" are ridiculous. But I also think that there's a level of...protectiveness...I'll say, because the running community has a way of consciously and unconsciously tearing a great female athlete down, and many people don't want to see it happen (again) with her.
There was a NYT article written about her when she was in high school which was, disgusting. She did not participate in it or comment in it, but the (male) writer wrote about her and hypothesized about how puberty and her changing body might affect her running career down the road. Can you imagine being a high school kid minding your own business and the New York freaking times decides to publish an article about your changing body?
And we have the gall to wonder why so many girls have eating disorders...
Another example of this was right after NXN in 2019. Tuohy, by her own admission ran a poor race stating that the rain and cold caused her to feel numbness in her feet, and the enormous pressure coming into it affected her mentally. Still, she won. I'm going to say that again, still, despite all the obstacles, Katelyn won her unprecedented 3rd National title.
But that didn't stop Rojo from quickly establishing a message board, pitting Tuohy against her male winner counterpart, Nico Young and, practically frothing at the mouth to exclaim he believed Young to have more potential in the future. Sure, she still won, but it was only by a second! This means only one thing: Downfall! Yay! Finally! Can't let a girl have too much spotlight! Phew.
Dyestat jumped on board quickly thereafter, declaring the best runner of 2019 a "tie" between Katelyn and Dudek. Katelyn was undefeated. Dudek was not. But again, there's something about a powerful prominent female that scares some people, and knocking them down is really the only way they can deal with it.
Well now we're here, Katelyn is nearly 21, and she's won two NCAA individual titles, so I guess that article and rojo were wrong.
But all of this to say that if people feel a little defensive about Tuohy, they have been given reason to do so. Just look at the post above commenting on Katelyn's appearance, and droning on about how she's "not that good".
I'm not writing this as a knock on Valby who I think is great. I think it's silly to pit the two against each other or treat it like a sports team rivalry. There's plenty of room for both. When you're talking balls and strikes though, it IS important to remember that two NCAA Titles is better than 0 NCAA titles. But we'll see what Valby's future holds.

I think Tyynismaa is the one with the stalkers. Minute by minute updates of who she is following on social media and who is following her and the worst by far was when someone logged into the NC State system and posted a screenshot of her on the directory, complete with her email address. No excuse for that stuff. I hate to think we could have another Emily Infeld situation brewing. It is easy to see the warning signs after the fact but people need ot be ble to recognize them BEFORE things go that far. I'm a little worried for Tyynismaa and Tuohy if some of the posters here live anywhere within driving distance of Raleigh.
Semihaze and Astro are the absolute worst. So disrespectful and they derail any discussion about Collegiate distance running to make it about Tuohy.
They were looking at Tyynismaa’s IG to see where she was transferring. You make it sound like they are “stalkers” who do this every day if their life. Also, that NC State student directory is PUBLIC. Anyone can on there right now, to try and search and find any student or faculty member. There is no “logging on”.
Serious flaws in your argument there.

I agree about the eating disorders and all of that but you did sensationalize the NYT article just a bit. In issue of fairness, I posted a link to the article below. (My username is not directed toward you. It was for someone earlier in the thread that made a derogatory comment about Tuohy)
As far as the premise of this thread is concerned, it is absolutely false. Tuohy has many more fan that aren’t as vocal about her as the few that are vocal about. Also, believe it or not, the majority of her fans don’t visit this website. The majority of fans of any runner do not come here. I know that’s probably hard to fathom, but it’s true. I can understand why Tuohy and many other runners absolutely despise these forums.
Tuohy is great, Valby is great, Cook is great, they’re all great. I just like seeing them compete.
Here’s the article…
Your post is spot on with posters being protective of Tuohy...the truth on this board is there are not any Cook, Valby or Tyynismaa fans. The posts are an ongoing battle between Tuohy fans and Tuohy haters (or often just 'Touhy fan' haters). The Tuohy haters jump on any shiny new object, Dudek, Hutchins, Cook, Valby ...as a chance to troll the Touhy fans. The Touhy fans never fail to answer the trolls.
Tyynismaa, who deserves the attention as she is a great story in her own right!, was just adopted this week by the Tuohy fans when she chose to go to NC St. NC St. had already become 'America's team' as Touhy's halo was expanded to include her teammates and coach at the Wolfpack.
Fortunately, Tuohy and team do seem to have a sense of humor about their notoriety. The recruiting pitch to "come to the dark side, we have cookies" gave me a full 24hours of chuckles.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
