i’ve been lifting the whole time i’ve been running (1.5 years). i do some bulgarian split squats, regular squats, sumo squats, and hamstring curls. (and separately, i do an ab routine, calf raises, butt resistance band stuff, and shin splint exercises). but, i have some questions.
first of all, i hate lifting. i dread it, it makes my legs tight and tired, and i always have to roll out forever afterwards. i don’t mind the other stuff though.
my question is, could i drop the lifting? could i just do the abs, calf raises, hip/butt resistance bands, and shin splint exercises?
also, i’m injured a lot. i just got over some ankle tendonitis (at least i hope), and have had plantar fasciitis, shin splints, knee issues, foot tendonitis, and now i feel my shin splints COMING BACK. is the weights doing this, making my muscles always tight? i used to do weights ~3 days a week on workout days, and started doing it only once a week once i injured my ankle and started to hit the elliptical.
basically, could the weights be causing injury? can i stop doing them? would the other exercises be enough? what other exercises that aren’t weights could i do? hill sprints?
