I actually have my schools mile record still (from 2011) - 4:12 (forget the exact tenths of a second)
I went to a relatively big school in a small state. I went on to run D1 at a decent school ( I was middle of the pack) with ending prs of ~1:49 800 ~3:45 1500M
As far as i'm aware I have the fastest mile PR for an alumni also (even though i've technically never run a mile (the 400 was a 1600m) and everything i have from college is a 1500m. But i'm guessing the 3:45 1500m i ran was probaly in shape to run a 4:02 or 4:03 mile I would guess.
HS Boys 4:13
Alumni 4:02 (same guy)
HS Girls 4:54... didn't run the mile/15 in college, but ran 34:33 for a 10
Alumni girls 4:32 1500
HS: 4:07
Alumni: 3:57
Same guy. I have no clue how his body managed to handle the training our coach gave us.
I'd assume running culture at these schools has stayed somewhat in tact, leads to good teams over the years
HS: 4:13 full mile
Alumni: 4:02, but there are 2 people who may break 4 this year
Did you ever look at how long the list is?
Mine 4:04/4:04

4.00.29
3.59.49
Same person- should be easy to figure out who it was.
4:05
3:48
So this guy's never actually run a mile race. No big deal in and of itself; neither have I. Difference between us is: this guy claims his school record and alumni record.... in an event he has never contested.
Maybe you are from overseas but in the US high school runners run the 1600 not the mile and most that continue do the 1500 m in college not the mile unless the run it for indoor track. So it’s not infeasible that a former US track athlete has not run a mile time that equates to the 1500.

Don Sage- HS Elmhurst York- Illinois
College- Stanford
HS record: 4:40
Alumni record: 4:28 (converted 1500)
went to a therapeutic boarding school in utah where the only good runners earned permission to run with the local HS and rarely stayed more than one year. Important to note that both myself (4:42) and one other alum (2:01 800) are actively running in college
Unique, nice
HS record is 4:23, which was just set last weekend.
No clue what the alumni record is, but my 4:26 is probably up there. For context, I ran 4:41 in HS, and I was the fastest that we'd had since at least the 90s until we got a pair of state-level runners in the last couple years.
Yep.
4:17 mile
3:36 1500
Different guys.
Loyola HS mile record:
4:02 - Elias gedyon
alumni record:
3:52 - david Torrence
robert Brandt and charlie Marquardt have also run 3:55, mark matusak ran 3:58, Elias gedyon went on to run 4:01, and ucla‘s Anthony stone ran 4:03 last indoor as a sophomore
4:19
4:09
They both graduated the same year. The year before me. Both ended up focusing on the 800 in college(both at high academic D1s)but the school record holder never ran a mile in college for some reason(even tho he did XC full time) and the fastest alumni time actually had better leg speed and only did a couple 5k’s in XC. He happened to run a mile one time and ran 4:09.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Guys between age of 45 and 55 do you think about death or does it seem far away
