What is your HS schools record for the mile and what is the fastest mile by an alumni of your HS?
4:06 HS record
3:56 alumni record
two different people
4:12
3:57
Two different people. Guy who ran 4:12 in HS ran 3:59 post collegiate. Guy who ran 3:57 post collegiate only ran 4:22 in HS.
I don't think our high school has ever had two runners break 4:30 in the same year.
high school record is 4:08
alumni record is 4:00 - he's run 3:57 1500 converted (and 3:49 in a downhill mile)
2 different people - current record holder ended up running 4:04 equivalent in college. Guy that has the alumni record missed the high school record by .21.
4:13 (1600)
3:59
Same guy
4:13.01 HS record
.... 4:13.01 alumni record.
Out of the 7 people to run sub 4:17 at my high school, not a single one improved in college. All of them ended up stagnating or quitting early. We were a low mileage school.
4:06 HS
3:54 alumni
Two brothers
4:17 for 1600m
4:00 full mile
Different people, but the guy that ran 4flat ran 49/1:52 in hs, 4:23 1600m.
4:17 kid went d3 and got worse every year.
4:05
3:59 (3:39 1500)
Hard to say if anyone from my school has kept track of either record or ever written them down. I certainly never heard mention of either one while I was there.....

My high school's mile record is 4:07 from 1972. I don’t think he ran faster in college.
I ran 4:04 after college (3:42 for the 1500).
I’m not sure if another alumni ran faster.
I just found a great article about my high school record holder.
To the best of my knowledge: same guy has both
HS 1600m record — 4:24 (or 4:26)
Alumni record — 4:11 indoor mile (flat 200m)
HS record: 4:16
Alumni record: 3:58
Two different guys, guy who has the high school record ran 4:13 and 3:54 for the mile and 1500 in college, but had some injury issues that prevented him from getting to his true potential. Guy who has the alumni record is still in college and will definitely lower that even more this year.
4:13.6 and 3:59.1. Same guy, both marks set in the 1970s. He went on to win both the Boston and Chicago Marathons
I am the only person on the world with a 5:01 mile PR
My HS record is 4:24
Boy 4:1x HS mile
Girl 4:35 HS mile
Man 3:55 mile
Woman ?
I had no idea that so many LetsRun posters went to schools with sub-4:00 alumni.
4:14 high school mile record
4:08 alumni mile record
3:41 1500m alumni
HS record is 4:16 and alumni record is ~4:05 for converted 1500 but could be lowered this spring. Frustratingly, I was sandwiched between a decent and motivated runner who set the records beyond me before I graduated and then after came kids who could really run and set records that will stand a while. Otherwise I could've claimed one or both of these titles with truly mediocre times! When I started high school our freshman and school record were the same at 4:58 and our only alumni who kept running was a club runner who was a low 16ish 5k runner (doubt he would've had a mile time outside of a 5k split).

I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
