She's probably tried the steeple in practice. It would be guaranteed points for the team. Although she could lead and grind all the other college runners into the ground I can't see Katelyn jumping over barriers.
Henry Rono is the NCAA GOAT. Look at what he did. There have been others who have gone to greater heights, but there will not likely be another who accomploshes as much while in the NCAA.
Thanks for clarifying. I respectfully disagree that international competition/ standing shouldn’t matter. College records, championships, and #1 rankings are required to enter the GOAT discussion. How do we distinguish one champion/record holder from another? By looking at how their times stacked up against the highest level of competition. Look at Britton Wilson. She is a college record breaker this year, just like Tuohy. It’s fair to say that Wilson’s 49.48 indoor record is more impressive than any of Tuohy’s record because Wilson’s performance was not only a collegiate record, it’s the American record and second fastest in world history.
Actually she doesn't. Jenny and K.T. both have 4 individual wins at the NCAA Champs and both finished twice in second place . K .T. has accomplished that in only 2 years. It took Jenny the full 4 years.Jenny won the Steeple as a Fr. Jr. and Senior and the 3K indoors as a Senior. She was second in Cross Country as a Soph and Jr to Sally Kipyego who won 9 individual titles.Jenny was an all time great college runner. That is why I called her the "goat"asking if K.T. could replace as the "goat" after she won the Cross Country Champs in November.
Sorry but Jenny was doing things in college that no one else in the US was capable of. Just because everyone is running faster now with new technology doesn't mean that Tuohy setting records while finishing 7th is in the same vein as Jenny's college accolades.
You got dat right sister!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ya'll talking bout fastest this and best that and blah blah blah........
Well let me tell you something BROTHER......Parker Valby was/is/and always will be.......THE PEOPLE'S CHAMPION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Watcha gonna do BROTHER when VALBYMANIA runs wild on you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No, not another Jenny. Jenny was really ahead of her time. Did it all in the old shoes, too. And no other women around her speed at the time of her collegiate peak.
Tuohy rally tanked the penultimate lap in a 75.63. She was running 71s and 72s to that point and then ran 72.09 for her final lap.
In Gault's article on the front page she states “[I] was not feeling good at all,” Tuohy said on the broadcast after the race. “Training. Overwhelmed. Just finished school. It was a really rough week.”
Interestingly is sounds as if she is not running the 5000 at the NCAAs and will just focus on the 1500.

Though KT’s talent makes her formidable running 5K’s her sweet spot, IMO, is the middle distance 1500-3000 range. Her ability to finish a 1500 in the 60-62 range is beyond today’s female college runner. Only a handful of the pro’s can finish with this level of kick.

She has never finished a 1500m below 63s so I am not sure where you are getting that. Simone Plourde just closed her 1500m in 61s, there are definitely other college runners who could outkick her in a sit and kick tactical race.

She finished last year’s 4:06 in a 63. She said she was able to run a 400 in 57 in yesterday’s interview so yes I am extrapolating being able to finish in the 60-62 range based on the progression she’s shown lately and her 400 speed. Sit and kick is not the answer to pulling out a 4:02 world standard IMO. Ideally the flow for the mile should be 64, 64, 63, 62. I think she’s in 4:02 shape now…of course all things need to go right. A 4:02 would translate to a 4:20 mile. Show me a collegiate female athlete that can pull that off today…If they exist in the US they need to prove it.
I assume having announced that she’s working on competing in the 1500 in this year’s championships she’s finally going to focus her training on speed work. I take it that she’s trying for the world standard having decided that her chances of finishing among the top 3 US runners are better at the 15 than the 5…
