Melody Fairchild bumped another runner take second place at the 1988 Footlocker National Championships. Nobody was all up in arms over her roughing up another runner. I guess runners were tougher back than.
I wonder if the crowd just after the finish line played a part: it looked like two runners were trying to squeeze into only enough space for one with officials and photographers crowding the space (chute?) beyond the finish line.
Lol, well he ran directly over then manhole cover he was supposedly trying to avoid. Had he kept running in a straight line directly to the finish he would have completely avoided it.
Maury Povich says "That was a lie." Who the hell moves all the way to the edge of the road to avoid manhole cover with 10 meters left in the race? I do feel for him though. Being a complete douche finally caught up to him. But it's over. Let him be. He didn't kill anyone. He is one of those people who gets awfully riled up over a little things so we all avoid them.
Some of the comments on social media are even funnier. On one Facebook post, a guy has commented that he's "triggered" by this, because that the leader of the wimens' half marathon once took him out at the turnaround point of his local turkey trot 10k. Its clear from his profile that he's a larger guy, in the clydesdale category. He then goes on to say that she refused to speak to him at the finish.

Yeah, that collision looked like it happened after they'd both crossed the line and just ran into each other. I don't see that as a fight for race position.
Dude would've come out with a better Strava time if he'd focused on running straight through the finish. He lost a solid one to three seconds with those silly shenanigans.

So you’re saying he doesn’t know how to run the tangents?
Went to high school with him. Mommy and daddy paid for 5 (not 4) years of private boarding school for him – easily $50k+/year. Even back then it was clear he thought he was hot sh*t, guys couldn’t stand him
So Mommy and Daddy paid for you as well to go to private boarding school….$50K+/year. I’m sure all of you were equally insufferable.
Life-time soccer player, that's a hip check. Notice how he throws his hips sideways off center line. D-move. Guarantee you he played soccer.
I was referring to the collision between Melody Fairchild and the other runner in 1988, not this turkey trot takedown. 100% agree the guy threw a hip check. I think an earlier linked article did in fact say he was a soccer player.
I was on a couple of clubs which, if this would have happened to one of our runners, the offender would have been dealt with in future races and likely repeatedly. It doesn't take fighting in the parking lot to really make a guy like this miserable.
Carnage. Unfortunate ending, but I have to be happy with the time. Felt great to work together with Cam and Ryan. 25:19 through 8K. Also. Cam got a bloody nose.
