I'll say yes he's a good coach but he failed the program not bringing his team to run against the best. I sure would like to know where this Big major money coaching deal is? Do you know how much a college coaching job pays? At first he most likely would be a volunteer assistant. Then after a couple of years make it up to assistant coach in charge of cross country. Louisiana College head Track coaches are going back to work at High Schools because they make better money and benefits . Example : Catholic High in Baton Rouge and St. Michael's.
I know Mike. He is a good guy. Needless to say we are looking at a team made up of 7 Mike's. Let that sink in. Please put Shannon Lemora of Central Arizona and Oregon in Mikes class of ability. He is from Port Allen and the New Orleans area too. We are seeing a team made up of 7 guys like those two. Do you realize that Jesuit of New Orleans has 15 fricken kids who can run under 16 minutes for a 5k and 5 to 7 who can run in the 14s. That's a SUPER team. This dude can sign a major money coaching deal right now. Big money!
This is not the best team in the country.... period. These guys have no where close to the PRs on the track that the top 5 teams in the country have. And now homers like you will die on the hill that they are the best team in the country because they won't actually run against the best teams in the country. Until you go head to head with Newbury Park, Crater, CBA, Jesuit OR, and best them, you cannot say that they are the best team in the country.
And if you are defending the "move" of going hard at the weakest state meet in the country to score 15 points and not going hard on the national stage, I will "knock" that coach all day long. If you want to run with the best, you have to do what it takes to run against the best. Would you really rather a meaningless LA state title over winning an NXN title against NP? Seriously you think that's the right move? That's why the state of LA sucks... they don't think big picture or out of their own little fish bowl. They could have gone 70% and still won the LA state meet AND qualified for nationals.
And for those guys saying these guys are the best this state has ever produced, don't forget about Mike Morin from Sulpher... 2 time Footlocker finalist, 8:56, 4:04 in HS (don't count as state records because in 1990, Louisiana didn't count it if it didn't happen at the state meet). Morin went on to get like 10 All-American certificates at the best XC school in the country. Pig souie!

Come back in the spring when these boys run 400m ovals that are the same for everyone in the country and not some 3 mile dirt path with no hills or terrain in LA. I just looked up these guys' track times... wha wha whaaaa looks like a mediocre program to me. 9:08 is the school record and then a bunch of dudes between 9:20 and 9:26. No guys even close to sub 4:10 with 2 sub 4:20... so unless these all 7 of these guys drop an average of 30 seconds for 3200, you are on another planet. Yeah, looks like his major money coaching job will be a Tulane or ULL. LOL. Sean Brosnan he is not.
Morin ran those times before super spikes... I'll bow down to you (probably the coach for Jesuit) and create a Jesuit appreciation thread when you do in fact have "7 Mikes" running sub 9:00 and sub 4:05. Will never happen...

They are not as good as Newbury, but this is patently false. For some reason, their MileSplit page is bugged, and doesn't include their 3200m times from the Texas Distance Festival. They had 5 guys run 9:06-9:22 there. All five of those guys came back this year. They also pretty much exclusively run the 3200 (DesRoches ran one mile race in 4:16, Vocke ran a few 800s and 1600s with PRs of 1:56 and 4:20, and the rest stuck to the 3200) so it's not worth it to include mile times. They smashed Hinsdale Central (NXR Midwest champs) at XC Town MOC, and their times from that day would've easily won NXR Midwest. Newbury Park is a level above the rest of the country right now, but it's disingenuous to say that Jesuit would not be competitive against any other team (and they're likely #2 after NP).

The coach at Jesuit New Orleans has taken these kids from pretty good to great. If this was a pro team with this type of improvement we would be taking PEDs of course l know they aren't taking anything, but he has taken each and every runner to another level. That just isn't done without some talent. Look at the massive improvements in all the runners. I can see 2 or 3 of these kids running 4:01, 4:00, or SUB 4 next year for track. Yes SUB 4! 3,200 meters to make it on the team next year for that event you need to be running 8:45. I can actually see 4 kids running 8:50 or better. We are seeing something incredible happening at that school. I can actually see someone at that school setting the high school record in the 3,200 or 1,600. These kids haven't been pushed. Look at the video of them running at the State meet on the website Varisty Sports. They aren't even going at 90 percent. Why should they if they are destroying everyone? Let them run in a real race against runners at their level and we could see two kids go under 4 in 1,600 and 2 in the 8:30 range for 3,200.
Look who will be watching them run at RunningLane this weekend from the computer if they can! Can we say depth?! And bright future?! https://www.instagram.com/p/ClASormDK9f/?igshid=NTdlMDg3MTY= By looking at this, many people have just recently learned that 9:37 and 9:41 isn’t good enough to make every varsity team out there. Both coming back next year though. And an 8th grader at 10:14. People make huge jumps from 8th to 9th grade

I respect Mike. As l recall he was a better track runner then cross country. I can't remember if he made the national meet in 1989. I think he did,but l can't be positive. Mike was more of a 1,600 meter guy. The #1 runner in the state in the 3,200 was Donnie Bernard out of Comeaux High schools or some school in the Lafayette Louisiana area. Clearly theses kids are running faster then them. I will say this, Mike Moran did improve a lot at Arkansas. He took it to another level . He would have been the NCAA outdoor champ in the 1,500 in 1993 if he wasn't battling a sickness at that meet.

Bro, you must be new to the sport if you think these guys will break 4:00 and run 8:30.
And you are just proving everyone’s point. If they went 90% at the state meet, why in Gods name did they not run NXR 4 days later. Sad. Staying away from the smoke, because they ain’t there yet.

I checked and there’s a Michael Vocke but who are the other 6 Mikes?

They are not running faster than Mike Morin. Until they do it on the track, it's all speculation.
Donnie Bernard, Mike Morin, and Robby Leblanc all ran faster than these kids at Northwestern and Highland Park. Check with Coach Boudreaux for verification if you don't believe me. Or you can check with Monohan's dad, Mike... he was there.

Look at the improvements. Their top 3 are in 14 flat to 14:12 5k shape in a track meet with top runners now today. Right now!! I really think their top guy can run 13:55 in a pro track meet if he had a chance. Today! Yes I said it, 13:55 or maybe 13:50 in a pro race if he had to this week. When they start doing track workouts l definitely see those time going down too.
I know Mike's dad too. He was a very good runner back then. Back then Jesuit had a VERY good team, but not at this level. A lot of the top runners in 1989 and 1990 came from the Lafayette Louisiana area, but Baton Rouge had a few and New Orleans had a few. I will say it again, Jesuit was a really good team back in those days, as was all the runners from the areas l named above. Let's not forget Mandeville High School too. All great runner's! I am not taking anything away from those guys, but these kids and this team is running at a SUPER level that no one has seen in Louisiana history or for that matter USA high school history. This team is one for the ages

Dude you are delusional. Their highest speed rating this year is 189. That probably equates to 14:25. If you want to see how they stack up against others with some semblance of equating performances across courses, check out Tully's speed ratings. It's not perfect by any means, but it's better than "he ran 14 low at City Park in New Orleans... therefore he can run 13:50 in a pro race." Mullen has the highest rating at 189 for his run in Terre Haute and then DesRoches at 188 for his state meet run. On a typical year, that won't make nationals from Footlocker South... it's typically north of 191. Please come down to earth... of course winning RunningLane (which is the equivalent of winning the Sun Belt) will just foster this BS. Here are the highest speed ratings from last year, and we know what they did in track:
1 Colin Sahlman 12 Newbury Park (SS) RunningLane Champ CA 12/4/2021 1 14:03.3 202.90
2 Leo Young 11 Newbury Park (SS) RunningLane Champ CA 12/4/2021 2 14:05.1 202.31
3 Lex Young 11 Newbury Park (SS) RunningLane Champ CA 12/4/2021 3 14:05.5 202.17
3 Leo Daschbach 12 Highland High Clovis Invitational AZ 10/12/2019 200.70
4 Ryan Schoppe 12 La Porte Texas State Meet TX 11/9/2019 199.33
5 Caleb Brown 12 Shelby NXN Nationals OH 12/7/2019 199.23
These Jesuit NOLA kids are here this year (inlcluding where they likely ran their hardest...Southern Showcase at RunningLane, Terre Haute Nike MOC, and the state meet):
111 Brady Mullen 10 Jesuit Nike Town Twilight IN 10/1/2022 6 15:04.0 188.67
143 Jack DesRoches 12 Jesuit Louisiana State Champ LA 11/14/2022 1 14:46.0 187.67
410 Robert Buisson 12 Jesuit Louisiana State Champ LA 11/14/2022 3 15:03.0 182.00
433 Patrick Dowd 12 Jesuit Nike Town Twilight IN 10/1/2022 18 15:25.0 181.67
647 Michael Vocke 11 Jesuit Louisiana State Champ LA 11/14/2022 5 15:11.9 179.03
Now which one of these will break 4:00, run 8:30, or 13:50-13:55? And how are you going to get them in a pro race when they run 9:06 for 3200... that literally ranked 127th last year of all high schoolers.

They haven't been pushed. When you are winning by a very large margin it's hard to run fast. Some of those City Park races had some very slow muddy conditions as well. It's very hard to run fast in those conditions, but they did basically what they needed to do and won by a mile. A slow jog on a City Park course that you have no one running anywhere around you vs a track meet with top runners, it's definitely possible. These kids haven't been pushed. They are just jogging. Look at the video of the state meet on Varisty Sports. They are just jogging! And that was a slow course and they had no one near them. Let that sink in!

Jogging were they? Well if they really were planning on jogging then why didn’t they do NXR? Or what were they saving themselves for? RunningLane isn’t till next Saturday

If Tyrone Gorze (as a junior) could barely get to 14 in a pro meet, no way a sophomore is going to run 10 seconds faster than him. Most guys able to break 14 do it as a senior.
Majority of the people on here are legends or distance monsters. Jesuit guys don't have times anywhere close to what these guys had as juniors let alone sophomores. If they come in this year and suddenly run 8:40 3200m and sub 4:05 miles, then maybe it's in the realm of possibility.
Let this year's times come in before you extrapolate to record breaking times (Sophomore running 13:50 5000m)
