But he is the coach, not necessarily her boss. Was he in a position of power over her? Zeke and others were owners, gms or team presidents. Nevertheless he violated team policy.
Affairs with subordinates are off-limits and a violation of company policy for every large organization. And in this case a major distraction for the team. If they wanted to carry on one of them should have left the Celtics first.
I am too detached to care either way but your name calling shows who you are.
Which is why you started this on a running message board and keep responding. Anyone can see through you.
This is hilarious. I might be a sociopath but I do not care at all about this in terms of what happens. I may be curious but I am not invested in the outcome at all.
The average NBA bangs so many women a year it's crazy.
He should have slept with a man, no way they would have suspended him.
You don't see a difference between players banging groupies and banging another member of the staff? They have to work with each other. Companies have rules because people's judgements can be clouded when it comes to someone they are intimately involved with.

“I might be a sociopath” was said on letsrun today in a thread about basketball.

Yeah well I probably am not a sociopath but the dude was so convinced that I care about the subject. I only care because the “me too” movement has now jumped the shark but I am a detached observer.

This is not about morality as should be painfully obvious by now; this is about a potentially massive liability and PR disaster. In the year 2022, only idiots carry on sexual relationships with subordinates. Yup, NBA stars bang a ton of women, but as long as none of them work for the team it's not an issue.
You guys don't realize that the Celtics are doing coach a favor... covering up a ton of bad behaviour in the org. We hired a CEO and the guy lasted 2 weeks due to immediate sexual harassment of staff.
My understanding is that he had a consensual relationship with a female member of the organization. This is absurd. Sarver, the owner of the Suns, spent roughly 17 years abusing his power and was suspended a year. Udoka had a consensual relationship and was suspended a year. He has got to appeal this suspension. That is wildly out of proportion unless some key information is missing.
Jeannie Buss, owner and exec with the Lakers, dated team employee for 18 years.

What was the role in the organization that she was his "subordinate"?
Ultimately, a society based on free choice should allow consenting adults to have harmless relationships without repercussions. Humans are sexual beings and become attracted to other adults they are around a lot (depending on sexuality), which is why this crops up again and again in workplaces. Rejecting this is based on suspicion of human sexuality, which is a kind of self-hatred, and suspicion of power, as if power dynamics were not always already operative. Nepotism guidelines, by the way, are instituted in many organizations to regularize both family and partner relationships within the institutions without forbidding them. The training given my group back in the 1990s on these issues set forth what I take to be excellent guidelines, namely, that any such relationship involving the authority of one over the other should simply be reported to superiors so that the authority be passed on to another person outside the relationship. Sexual relationships with subordinates or co-workers were permitted, therefore. Harassment, by contrast, was banned for obvious reasons.

She wouldn't have to be a direct line report on the org chart. If he is clearly senior to her in the organization then a relationship is problematic from a relative power perspective.
I don't know about the C's official policy. But when two people are in a relationship and one of them could reasonably perceive that their actual job could be in jeopardy if they "get out of line" in their intimate relationship that is a huge problem.
I don't understand why anybody is comfortable with their employer telling them who they can and cannot have a sexual relationship with.

There are also serious questions about how objective the two people can be regarding job performance, compensation, opportunities for advancement, etc. Others in the organization inevitably feel that they themselves are treated unfairly compared to the subordinate in the relationship.
