Yeah. Jakob was going to run 3:28 if Ramsden had hit the prescribed 55/1:51.0 pacing. It also prevented him from making it past 900, as he and the field seemed a little gassed from the first lap.
Also this race really looked like how it used to between Tim and Jakob in 2019. Roles reversed, of course. Good sportsmanship after from the duo.
I’ve never seen anybody look as relaxed as Jakob while running so fast. He literally looks like he’s jogging in isolation, but then he just destroys everybody. He betrays no stress. Like Kipchoge in the marathon. It’s ridiculous really how easy it looks for him.
I feel like that was one of the first DL 1500's ive seen in a while without pacing lights. Definitely makes a difference. They got to 800 in 1:51 like requested, but it was 54/57 instead of more even splits.
Any drama about who was going to win those 1500s was manufactured for sure. Kipyegon and Jakob are absolutely dominant. Wightman had his shocker, but it’s not happening again.
There was this sense of pace with Centro when he took off. I can barely detect Jakob changing gears. No tell at all, from his face all the way down. It makes you think he could go MUCH faster. Maybe that’s not true, but G-D he is smooth.
