I've seen other races where they set those paces. Either the runners don't run at that pace or they slow down the 3rd lap before kicking the bell lap.
Yeah 1:51-1:52 pace requested is pretty standard for a DL with good weather. It all depends on whether someone is willing to keep the pace up on the third lap which will determine the fast times. Tim C did this very well for years and now Jakob (And Stewy sometimes) has taken the mantle.
I expect 3:28 or faster depending on how recovered Jakob is from Euros.

Jakob could have run 3:27 last year. He ran a 3:28.3 PB in the Olympic final after rounds. I really hope he dips under 3:28 today.
While I agree that it is impressive to run that fast after rounds, you gotta remember, this guy can recover better than almost anyone ever because of all the threshold he does, so I don't think based off that he could run faster. I do think he could run faster because it was a final where time wasn't the only goal and some tactics were used. I think if he gets a clear shot, it'll be sub 3:27, but if he has to maneuver, could be as slow as 3:29 (or slower if he's on the downswing of the season). I don't see a WR happening today.
Sadly the field wasn’t really up to it today. Nice win from Jakob and a huge return to form for Stewy, but otherwise unremarkable. Kind of a shame that Jakob’s one misstep this year was in a global final. He has looked so good otherwise.

The last time Jakob finished lower than 2nd in a race above 800 was in Doha 2019. He is unbelievably consistent across different distances.
what i dont get is why jakob chose to do that drop to the back and go around the pack on the bend thing he does when he has a pacemaker who he started right next to on the 2 farthest outside lanes
