Hobbs will be in that BMC 800M tomorrow...then..maybe one more 1500M? On this pacing issue..I am staring to fall away from enjoying races where any guy only has to run 300M on their own..LOL..Oh, I will watch them..But , come on now..
I don't believe 2:18 for pacer will cut it. El G went through in 2:18.8 and also ran last 400m in 53.5 (!). I highly doubt, that J.I. has ability to close such race in 53.5, therefore he would have to run the first 1000m a bit faster - a more even pace. 2:17.0 for the pacer, 2:17.5 for Jakob and then he can close in 54.5 to just dip under the WR.
Also, I think the second pacer needs to be a 800/1500m guy. Wouldn't trust a 400m/800m runner to pace a quality 1000m. Kipsang would probably be the best and most plausible guy to get this done. Don't see Wightman or Kerr doing this for Jakob.
The more I think about it though, the more unrealistic this goal seems...
I think he is trying to run 3:27 in Lausanne not 3:25. 2:18 is fine for this goal. That’s 1:09 for the last 500. If they go for 3:25.xx they/meet organizers will probably pay big like Cheptegei did for Kimeli in his 10K and I think he had McSweyn for his 5,000? Perhaps an up-and-comer like Ermias Girma, Vincent Keter or Matthew Stonier could be recruited to pace 1,000 or 1,100

He is NOT running anywhere near 3:25, His PR is 3:28.x and he has run a LOT of championship type races and heats.I am not even sure he touches 3:27.x

Definitely not sure of a sub 3:28 clocking. But I think the race will be set up to allow for that with a negative split (2:18-2:20 through 1K). Working to his advantage is he skipped Monaco, and then at Europeans, it was only 3 races total (no 5,000m heat).

Just had me rewatching it, but El Guerrouj got 1,150 meters of pacing in his World Record 5,000m. That's pretty astonishing! There's really no one I could see giving this sort of pacing help nowadays unless maybe there's a huge amount of money out there for a Marco Arop type.
Heh how long is he staying out there? I know there's a 1500 in Zagreb in 3 weekends from now. Earlier is Luzern or Berlin. I hope not Padova or Budapest because I suspect those will be lower quality fields.
55 Minutes after 800, Kessler ran 3:58.x mile(1:25.x last 600 in the mile). I had mentioned Berlin on last post.
Good workout...did he win?
Are you serious? I cannot even respond to you anymore. A PR in the 800M was not good enough for you.."It was a good workout"?? Really? Does it matter if he won, I think Helper friend Eric Avila outleaned him. You have used up your questions for today. that was too much. Plus I had mentioned Berlin..prior to you doing it..keep up, will ya LOL.
I was referring specifically to his mile which I doubt was all out lol and joking about him running 3:58 in a workout effort. You need to relax! His 800m was obviously a very good performance. The Berlin thing I never said you didn’t mention…You’re very high-strung on all things Kessler. Take a deep breath about the whole thing, I’m not sure how you read anything I wrote as slights on Kessler or you.
By that I only meant..Eric is an older guy kind of helping get Hobbs around over there, nothing more. I know exactly how good he is. Sorry for the wrong terminology.

Luzern meet record is 3:36.80 and the meet is on the 30th. Not sure who is running this year, but…
Berlin (ISTAF) seems to be mostly a woman competition. Nothing longer than 400m on men side.
