Aregawi actually asked for WR pace according to Cram and Hutchins. I loved seeing him go for it but that last km looked like death. I know nothing of the winner but what a run. Shame he wasn't at World's. Nice work for Fisher, third in a DL is probably his best result so far, IMO. I thought he was closing more on the back straight but very good to see him get a national record in a race
Am I the only one who thinks Thierry Ndikumwenayo is super suspicious? This guy was a 3:37/13:25 guy a year ago and now he's bumping up against Bekele on the all-time 3000 list, and ahead of Ingebrigtsen and Kiplimo with a 7:25 beating a bunch of world medalist/top 5 guys. And where was he for WC's? He had the standard, I don't think there were 3 Burundians ahead of him.
It was stated in commentary that he was injured for World's. Let's not go throwing accusations about a guy just because you haven't heard of him. Wait and see what else he does
Now we have a Semenya in the 3K. The sport takes a step backwards.
I just hope that Semenya and Niyonsaba don't start running the steeplechase too.
Then we could have a repeat of the 2016 800m Rio Olympics fiasco, and have the top 3 finishers in the women's steeplechase at the 2024 Olympics be biological males.
Seb Coe and World Athletics need to stop this ridiculousness ASAP.
does NOT impress me in the way it appears to impress some of you who are not tuned in to what is really going on here.
I believe what is really going on here is that you have decided ahead of time what a particular runner's ceiling/abilities are, and that anything different is the result of doping and shoes, and nothing else.

Not at all. I was surprised by Fisher’s 26:33 and that was the time when it appeared that he was special and/or doping. Most of you appear to think the fantastic winner of the 3000 today in 7:25 is doping. I guess partly because he is not American but there are other legitimate reasons to wonder.

Actually I think this character is just a troll. Every post is inflammatory and an argument against or degrading anything positive - just being contrary. Prob best just if everyone quits feeding the troll - stop responding to the posts.
For sure to get it right to the 100th is nothing but good luck, but that she would fail slightly was the most likely outcome to me. Unfortunately I just can't post under my old username (said88) anymore, under which I have posted for several years because of the mad comments of coevett who just seems to be so full of hate that he just can't stop to lie (since years, also recently) when he just sees me posting or Aouita mentioned in any way.
Anyhow, I was right behind the starting line and it was fantastic. Perfect conditions. wonderful meeting. I was hoping so deeply that she succeeds but after starting little bit too fast I soon realised it's getting damn close.
Unfortuntely this performance didn't get the recognition it should have. And no victory laps at all!

Agree on both posts. This is so frustrating to see happen to women's sports.

He is not in the AIU RTP but this win will land him there assuredly.
His profile is interesting, Pre-super spikes he ran 13:27 at age 18 and 7:41 at age 21 and was 9th at World Cross in 2019. This year a huge breakthrough season. He had a hamstring injury ahead of Worlds but 3 DL starts indicates he’s not dodging testing. Based on Spain for a number of years evidently, and not a ton of great racing opportunities in some past years.

Actually, it would be best if a**holes like this guy were forced to register (as many of us have asked the JoBros to do dozens of times), so we could put him on *ignore*, and he wouldn't be allowed to pollute threads like this.

You are usually a decent poster but here you offer nothing? Maybe you should contribute instead of polluting yourself. Again I have enjoyed some of your posts in the past.
Hahahahah - "4-7 seconds over 3000m?!" I legitimately laughed out loud at that. And what evidence do you base that nugget of elite scientific insight off?
The shoes are worth 1 second every 400-600 meters. It’s a fact. Only idiots think otherwise.

He's been much more of a cross country athlete in recent times. He podiumed in a few meets earlier this year, so maybe that's gotten his name out to compete in these more competitive Diamond League meets and he's able to really show what he's capable of on the track.

If you guys haven't watched the sketch comedy I Think you Should Leave, you should. It's about a guy that does and says completely ridiculous things. When he is caught or proven wrong, he doubles on the absurdity. It's hilarious. The best sketch comedy I've seen in years.
She stated she is going for a personal best in a post race interview at World's and person keep pushing it and she stated, " I would like to run a PB in Monaco but anything is possible.". Her pb is 3:51.high and the world record is 3:50 low. I doubt she just trying to run a PB when she is less then 1.7 seconds off the world record in the 1500m. Her personal best was set in a championship race w/tactics, competition, and medals in the line. She will have on to follow the rabbit and not worry about string competitors or medals.
Weather good and pacing and I hope she runs sub 3:50. I also hope Grant Fisher breaks the 3000m AR.
Her PB is not 3:51 high, it is 3:51.07, 1.00 seconds above the WR. Both times set in Monaco.
I'm currently in Monaco and the weather is just perfect. I think she has a serious chance to break the record, but the mark is very hard. I say she just fails with 3:50.37.
