So for 2024 Edina has: Haerter - 10 Danielson - 10 Nybeck - 10 Younger Ohe - 9 Older Ohe - 10 All ran sections
In case the older Ohe or maybe others have trouble progressing as much as others because of no track, they also have: Boudewyns - 10 - 17:46 at lefty Wright Opsahl - 10 - probably related to Hoken who graduated in 2022 and raced at TCRC in 2020 - 18:19 Hubbell - 10 - probably related to Gus who graduated in 2020 and scored at state 2019 (and was part of the state winning team in 2018) - 18:27 Spaulding - another 9th grader who did well in JH races last year - 18:30 Miles Anderson - 8 - putting him here because he always places top 10 in the JR high races Most if not all of them do track
Stillwater is definitely better than Minnetonka but there 7th guy, Max Gerald is just bad. They have a chance to podium and it will be free for Max because he won’t help at all.

It will be important for Walsh to displace some Minnetonka scorers, like Thomas, Vos, and maybe Fries. Would have been nice for Stillwater if Gerald could displace them too.
Sean Fries is definitely a dark horse in this race. He was close to Westerlund at conference. Might happen again at state and NXR but we will see. It’s ok that he wasn’t close to Max at sections. Tonka could have won the section without either Fries in the lineup.
I agree with this statement but you also have to realize the former 7th runner Brady Bushlack was injured mid season. This is the reason why Max is running for Stillwater’s varsity team.
I think you are right.. 2 years ago. 2020 Champions race Nechanicky was 6th and one of only girls not a senior in top 10. Rypkema was 60th.
2022: Jade ran 17:07 at Nike Nationals and is over a minute in front of everyone. Both Rypkema and Nechanicky have spent the season breaking multiple course records.
From what I can see might also have a fast runner from KS and one from SD. NXR is going to be good show down.
Heard that Nybeck will likely do track from someone on the Edina team. Doubt that the Ohes will throughout their high school career as both invest a LOT of time in golf.

This is gonna make me wonder if the younger Ohe will remain as the best c/o 2026 guy on the team. Or if a current middle schooler will beat him
Interesting story:
In 2014 Sam Elliott was the best freshman on the team (also the best in his class at Edina in middle school), and also made varsity and raced at NXN
In 2015, he got surpassed by a younger runner Max Manley (who lead the team to its first state title as a senior!!!), he barely made the sections line up, and also got bumped off the NXN squad by a transfer from Chaska Zac Miller who was also not healthy until NXR
The next 2 years Elliott couldn’t make varsity no matter how many seniors they lost.
Maybe I am way off base, but I always thought the term "low stick" came from the days when popsicle sticks where handed out at the finish line with numbers on it based on where you finished. I happened to run in many of those races:)
Should be interesting to see about younger ohe because he blew up pretty badly at sections because of unnamed issues. Normally he is up there a little bit. Not so sure for older Ohe because of golf. Also heard from assistant coach that Boudewyns has been sick last couple of races so expect him to be near older ohe.

Yeah the younger one was #2 at Alexandria (would have been their #3 if Defor actually raced varsity). If, at sections, Defor raced and the younger Ohe finished where he should have, Edina would have went to state. Congrats to EP for qualifying since it might be their last time for a while (looking to be Edina/Tonka dominating this section for the next couple of years). They also lost a long time head coach Jeff Lindlief
Read online somewhere that younger Ohe was using 23$ spikes. He has had a lingering heel injury and these spikes for sure didn't help him. i think he can recover quickly and be able to bounce back from the disappointing performance at sections.
