I’m not sure how to translate results from our sport to plays in basketball, but I don’t think winning by two hundredths of a second is equivalent to straight up bodying a defender’s best effort and dunking in his face. Feels like that would be the equivalent of a 0.5-second win at 200. But what do I know.
No, the opposite. If Lyles had dominated and beat Knighton by 0.5, then even a little taunting would be in bad taste. You don’t taunt somebody inferior, you taunt your equal or even somebody probably better that you managed to edge out. That’s how I think it should work.
I was referring to Lyles and Knighton being real men. I'm surprised that wasn't obvious, as they are the topic of the thread.
I was always acting cockiest when I felt less confident. When my actions were impressive I said little.
That’s fine, whatever works. I loved Rivera and I loved Pedro Martinez. Probably the two greatest pitchers I’ve ever watched. Rivera was always quiet and respectful and just walked off the mound when his work was done. Pedro, one of the great taunters in mlb history. They were both great for the game.
Some of you are so f&cking boring. Excuse my “classless” language but you deserve it.
Nobody really cares what anyone thinks. This sport is dying with or without the pseudo excitement of a sprinter taunting another sprinter. Who the hell cares either way?

I believe this to be true. Edginess and competition occur when there is a genuine battle between to equivalent forces. If the gap is too large, there is not a good enough opportunity to develop a rivalry. What makes this great is that it WAS close, and there is a juxtaposition between a world champion and a rising superstar.
This could also be something that we look at later down the road as what sent Knighton over the top to dominance. It is a reach, but it could be just what he needs to stay locked in. Worse thing that he could do is think that he has arrived (even though he has haha)

Neat story.
You are one of those pencil necked geeks who probably who is too afraid to speak your mind in person so here you are acting like the alpha male and we are all laughing at you.
I remember playing early sports video games where a player score a touchdown and then proceed to just stop right after crossing the goal line and then robotically walk away. That's what some of y'all want actual athletes to act like.
They are going to be teammates on the 4x1, would you treat your teammate that poorly?
If you're 12 years old you might think the purple hair and classless behavior is cool. But most track fans don't want to see that garbage.
You mean all those track fans that weren’t in that stadium this afternoon.
thank god someone still has a heartbeat in the sport. otherwise it’s just surviving on its legacy as an Olympic sport.

I'm wearing my Rivera Baseball HOF shirt right now! Loved him.
On the other hand, I'm also reading Leo Durocher's "Nice Guys Finish Last". Mr. Durocher would have agreed with Ato in this situation.
It’s evident that Erriyon lives in Noah’s brain. Lyles action at the tape was unnecessary and classless. C’mon, aiming a finger gun, then pulling the trigger? How 6 year old was that?! Fred looking like the mature big brother as Noah picks on baby brother Erriyon in the interview. As Erriyon calmly said, “it ain’t ever over!”

Yep.
Meanwhile, in Jamaica, they can both be happy to make it and happy their teammates do.
We can see here why we're frequently dropping the baton...we can't think as a team/country.

And there you go! See how it's possible to say something that has the potential to possibly offend someone without feeling bad about it or worrying that they might think you're "classless"? Glad we could take this step in your personal journey together!

Ask any racer, any real racer here. Doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning is winning.
