I was present when Granville set it. He was and still is a great human being. Cade is a piece of trash the majority of letrunners like him because minus the talent have the exact same attitude.
Haha the community fostered by the Brojos. Trashing a high school senior for having the maturity of a high school senior.
Interesting to me is that this post is still up while the post mirroring that comment putting down Granville in a similar fashion was removed. Post 50
25?! He’s obviously at least in his late 30’s, possibly even in his 40’s. Heck, I think we might have just witnessed the greatest 800m ever run by a Masters athlete in a high school race.
Granville also held the indoor 800 metres record (broken by Josh Hoey in 2018) and set the class record at 800 metres at all four levels of high school; 1:51.03 as a freshman, 1:48.98 as a sophomore and 1:47.96 as a junior. He is reputed to have run the race around 1:56 in 8th grade. He also won the prestigious Arcadia Invitational multiple times.
Since Flatt is number 2 indoor behind Hoey and currently #2 outdoor behind Granville. How can anyone say he’s not the best ever fight now. I can’t wait to watch him next week. One of the podcast guys said he would be in his high school jersey at Nationals. Who could even dream of that?
Found that Granville had never broken 1:47.6 prior to his record, so he PB'd by at least a full second.
Flatt currently has 3 all-time top 10 times (1:46.48, 1:46.51, 1:47.04). Breaking the record would cement his HS legacy, but, even without that, it is compelling set of performances.
Let me ask this..a better question to the fanboys..Flatt ran what he did, twice..both races with very aggressive set ups, Granville did his at 18and change in a Pre Lim at a State meet. Brazier his 1:43.x at same age as Flatt.. Andrews 1:45.54 at same age.. deal with fact.
The difference..no pacing in either of later mentioned 2.
Merber and Chavez interview ,whom I usually love is embarrassing. Merber ran 3:35, the fact that he would even entertain a guy saying he ran 46.6 146.x and 4:14 off 3-5 miles a week should be a joke even to him. It is ludicrous. So be it, the legend of paced 800's lives on.
Better question to try again, and again and again... ask any real middle distance or any real coach if, they think it is even remotely possible to run 4:14 ..multiple triples, and a quadruple , off what he said was 3-5 miles training a week? If it is? Then he would be the first guy in history at any level, and he is not even the fastest guy in HS history in an elongated season.
Welcome to Letsrun, where a random person will go online to call a high school kid they've never met an idiot because they were ahead of another high school kid they've never met.
He's an idiot because he's a 1:50 runner running 51 for 400m. He's an idiot because he knows Cade is the fastest runner there and if he wanted to get a good time he should have drafted off him instead of leading. That's for sure.
Now, if he actually tried to ruin the record attempt by blocking Cade then he's more than an idiot, he's just garbage . Given the fact blue runner literally shoves the orange kid out of the way at the beginning, odds are he's garbage.
Cade should have just drafted off him instead of running extra on the curve.
