Although the time was not amazing, Kerley was going awaaaaay! Trials will be interesting as there are polar opposite types in that Mens 100. Some elite "starters" who fade, and some real "top end speed runners" that finish.
You said it. Will be a great season between the two. Not only the WC but the remainder of the Diamond League. Both not afraid to race and race each other. Girma hurdles the water jump and does not touch the water!
Finalmente! All 3 Kenyans impressed. Nicholas Kimeli was definitely holding back slowing down as Kejelcha was tiring-up. Could've run a couple of seconds faster. People forget Jacob Krop acquitted himself extremely well at the worlds in Doha 2019 as a teenager. Nice to see him finally come to his own. Levy Kibet, who ran a 13:01 PB for 9th is only 18. Future looks good.
This is the fastest 5k by Kenyans since Eliud Kipchoge ran 12:46 in the same stadium back in 2004. Add Ebenyo to the mix and we could possibly have the best Kenyan 5k team since the one at Paris 2003.
Only one Kenyan all time is faster than the two today, Komen! This pushes Rupp to 102 all time.
We can be glad the Mo Farah era is over. I'd expect something similar at worlds as today. Not 10 guys bunched up with 800 to go. To win or medal or even have a "respectable" place will require going from way out. Who will be prepared to do it, I'm excited.
Agree 100%. The Mo Farah era was like the the dark ages or great depression of distance running. So happy to see the back of it.
You know I agree. Lame we were missing the Ugandans in this one. I’d think an in-form Kiplimo would’ve been a fun kicking partner for the top 2.
I think Kiplimo kicks better than Cheptegei and I was somewhat surprised it didn't happen at the Olympics. He seems more interested in the roads than the track which would be a shame because he has what it takes to light up the track for years.
