Cant always go by semis, but Alfred, Steiner and Jefferson looked great.
steiner running gour events today
And that will be her undoing. I still think she can be great in a 1-off, but does not run easily enough to hang through multiple rounds of multiple events.
What about Alfred, Jefferson, and Ofili? How many will they run?
Alfred has the 4x400 left and ofili is going for four events as well in the 100, 4x1, 4x400, and 200 so her and steiner will be pretty stacked come Saturday saying they make the final for the 200 and 4x400
Claire Seymour didn't advance, which I mentioned could happen in another thread. Tobias looked great, last 25m Wilkinson looked strained, Rynda nearly got her
Oof, Hendrick blew up a bit the last 100 but got a small q. Had her picked FTW but that was not a great end. Schoffield continues her momentum, and Keegan is peaking at the right time. Barrett had terrible positioning but rallied late and snuck in. Galvydyte looked incredible final 50, Mcdonald good, Aaliyah Miller looked exhausted.
the entire 2nd heat of the 1500 ran faster than the winner of the first heat
4:14 and 4:15 didn't make it, yet five who ran 4:21 will be in the final.
This is exactly why having prelims in distance races is stupid. It should be a timed final with the fastest time 8 times from the three heats being your 8 place winners. Otherwise you end up with crappy times making finals. If you want to win, you better bust your butt in your race, instead of running "tactically".

That’s a terrible idea and way worse than the current approach.
It depends if you like watching fast races, or slow races. When you know that the only way to advance to the final, or to place, is too run the fastest time possible, it makes for faster racing and more equitable results, so 4:15 isn't sent packing.

They are racing. Winning is winning. Time trialing is for practice.
That's a fine philosophy if you like slow times. "Race the person next you" is why distance racing is a snooze fest. That's how you end up with. 1:45 winning the men's 800 in the Olympics, which totally sucks. All those guys could have run faster than a 1:45, but they raced each other instead of running their own race.
looks like Texas and Florida are getting their athletes through, including both have 2 in final series of LJ. Gittens in 2nd thus far is a pleasant surprise for Texas.
