Meanwhile, a good number of DGR hobby joggers have purchased five different pairs of shoes in the last month, have used them for various types of workouts that they think are necessary (steazy moderate tempo hills on railroad ballast with a carbon plated cross training shoe?), and are perpetually nursing some niggle or injury thanks to following SJD's schizophrenic directions on footwear and training.
When will the bank foreclose on Seth's home?
Yes I will keep bumping this thread because he deserves karmic retribution for faking this injury. ‘You see guys , just a few glute bridges here and there! Boom! She’s good to go’.
First time his content has filled me with rage, I can’t let it go.
Grinch worthy stuff
We've been doing the pegs a long time.
What I can't stand about Seth is that if his training falls apart, he always blames something other than himself. And if there's nothing to blame it on, he seems to invent something. This is a horrible lesson for aspiring runners. The one in charge of your running destiny is the one in the mirror, not a heavy meal, an uncomfortable airplane seat, or a lack of glute bridges. Until you look at your training meticulously, make sacrifices, and take full responsibility for your running, you are just screwing around, and wasting your time.
But then I realize Seth is just like any other YouTube fitness influencer. They say they are training hard, and helping others meet their goals, but first and foremost they are running a business. They are in the business of views and clicks. Quality content does not matter. What matters is cash going into Seth's bank account so that he can pay for his mortgage, and his endless supply of free range organic pasture raised chicken eggs.
I wonder what happened to the pivot he was trying to make to more lifestyle vlogging? Now he’s gone back heavily into mediocre shoe reviews. Beholden to no one but could his overlords at running warehouse have told him to make with the shoe reviews or they’ll say pull his link?
BTW I like when his viewers have to correct his shoe reviews, such as someone reminding him it has two zoom pods. YOU WILL NOT GET COMMENT OF THE DAY CMON NOW!
Run With Me
The amount of shoe reviews have gone up dramatically since the addition of the affiliate link to Running Warehouse, just observing.
What bothers me sorta, is him showing us a garage filled with shoes, new and like new and wanting to pay a "high schooler" to come and organize the 10's of thousands of dollars of shoes just accumulating like a treasure trove.
Dude, give the shoes to "high schoolers" instead, God/The Universe/Karma whatever people believe, will find a way to give you back, often more than you gave.
Hey, Seth! Here's a content idea. Initiate a weekly "Giving Vlog" where you bestow some lightly used shoes to a school track program in an underserved neighborhood, or a reservation, or to a homeless shelter. Maybe get some footage of you running with the kids or starting a running/road to self-esteem program at the shelter. It is far more impactful and helpful than you prattling on about yourself and your lame running goals for the umpteenth time. We all know that you want to win PPM again and qualify for the trials. We don't need anymore episodes about them nor any reminders about them.
This is a terrific idea! Seth I hope you read the boards!
Google search for shoe charity Colorado took 5 seconds. In Australia we have large charity bins everywhere so giving shoes away is pretty easy but it’s not like it appears to be hard in the US either.
At this point I’d be ok with him doing it just for YT clout but damn I feel like he’s giving Catholics a bad (or maybe worse lol) name with this shoe hoarding BS. Religion aside it’s bad but for someone like him it’s an even worse look.
I am new to the DGR fandom so cut me some slack.
Question - Is True Love’s perpetual excitement / energy real? If so, wow, I think I have a new celeb crush. Also, in the recent episodes she is looking VERY good, talk about a “glow up”. Consider me a fan.
Everything about DGR/SJD/TL is fake. Think of it as a reality TV show with less talented actor wannabes.
Honestly him having kids' sized feet is perfect in this instance. He absolutely could get those shoes donated to some underprivileged kids, and it would be an awesome thing to do. But he won't. Because it's Seth. He'll want to keep them so he can pull them out next year when the newer version comes out and he can do a side-by-side durometer test.
Maybe the problem is on the supply side, say Running Warehouse. Maybe they should say after the review if you will not continue to wear them, donate them to charity and make that part of their agreement with these reviewers. Or the shoe flow ceases.
Back when I would watch his channel (before he started charging his subscribers for emojis and spouting off all kinds of catchphrases like a toddler playing with a soundboard) he would do shoe giveaways to folks that needed the shoes. That has since stopped, but even after the shoe giveaways he would still hunt down low priced, quality branded shoes at Ross or Burlington Coat factory and literally buy every pair on the shelf! And he absolutely didn't miss the opportunity to set up his camera to show him holding up 4+ pairs in the aisle while making some stupid smirk for a thumbnail. He would buy all these shoes under the guise of giving them away and then encourage his subscribers to do the same at their local stores and send the shoes to him. This really irked me, as buying up every pair in multiple stores took those shoes out of the hands of local kids or low income runners that really could use them! I would be willing to bet those brand new shoes are still sitting in a dark closet down in his basement or lost in a pile in the garage somewhere...
The vlog is their highlight reel, not their behind the scenes. Just like your social media. You think she's gonna dump on Seth's lazy parenting habits in the middle of a vlog? I'd love to hear it, personally.
8 days, 7 shoe reviews + in the one non-review video he's wearing tape on his shins again..
The shoe reviews are likely recorded before hand, and it’s how he goes on vacation. Or something else is happening in his life.
about a year or two ago when he left the grassroots running behind for his mansion, he had 149k subscribers. Looks like 160k now. not a huge gain, but at least it’s something.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
