i only was responding to the knucklehead who was tooting the big east horn. here are the numbers:
last 5 years: ACC (6), B10 (3) and BE (2)
last 10 years: ACC (10), B10 (8) and BE (4)
last 15 years: ACC (16), B10 (11) and BE (4)
the big 10 definitely kicks the big least's ass over these time periods. however, the big 10 only has 1 title over the last 15 years. interestingly, the big 10 had 5 different schools go to the final 4 over this time period (illinois, michigan st, indiana, minnesota and michigan). also note that the big 10 does have 2 more titles if you go 5 more years out (michigan in 1989 and indiana in 1987). the bottom line is that the acc has dominated college basketball over the past 15 years.
Where did I ever say the big east is better than the acc? All I said was that the initial comment about the acc being dominant in terms of recent national championships was wrong. In terms of final four appearances, the acc is clearly better, but so is the big ten.
This year, however, I think that the big east is much better/deeper than the acc. Duke needs a buzzer beater to beat a team that consistently fought for last place in the big east?!
