Hi, I'm a college junior thinking about starting to convert to be able to wear flats on all my runs. Currently I have my eye on the Asics Gel Magic Racer as the shoe I'd like to convert to (gradually this next summer, 1x per week ... 2x per week, etc). It will be actually a conversion back - I wore flats all the time about 5-6 years ago in high school, but I wasn't doing 20km at 6:10-6:30/mi on my "easy" days back then, or anywhere near the workouts I do now on my workout days. Nevertheless, I think if I go gradually and am careful this could workout ... but I have two questions:
1) How does/would the Magic Racer perform as a training shoe?
2) How many miles can I expect to get out of a flat for training (I find I can get 400 - 450 out of a normal running shoe, sometimes 500)
