I expect her to make team. Most people do.

I think Jenny “Barringer” Simpson’s NCAA record of 15:07.64 is very possible for Tuohy in this upcoming race at USATF Nationals if she’s feeling good.
Its going to be a high of 93 on saturday, anyone knows if usatf moves race schedules due to heat?? many athletes have posted online about how its going to be really hot during the 5k race
we're nearing to the conclusion of this thread, its katelyn's last 5000m race of the season or maybe not (who know's)
drop your final predictions!
mine's gonna be 15:03 if the weather is good
15:31 in this race. 14:57 lifetime.
14:57 would prob be her junior pr
oh sophomore, coz katelyn is a sophomore for the xc and indoor season
Improvement is rarely linear. She had years with no improvement. She improved this year which makes it likely that she won't next year.
If its 93 degrees then PRing will be tough. The whole race will be slower. Not sure if they will move the race to later.
as long as katelyn tuohy is not injured, she will continue to progress, her work ethic and drive to get better, succeed and win is just above anyone else, fitness wise she is far from her peak, the entire nc state team also is getting better and better, if you think a healthy tuohy will not progress just because she pr'd this season, you are fooling yourself
survival of the most hydrated runner not the fastest
That is an insult to thousands of other runners. How can you possibly know what goes on in the hearts and minds of thousands of runners who you don't know, haven't met, and haven't even seen? None of us know if Tuohy will improve or not. Most of us admit that our predictions are based on our experiences and data from other runners. Your predictions are merely emotional claims that Tuohy is smarter, stronger, faster, more committed, than every other runner.
But based on the data of the past ncaa champions:
Wayment 3k - 9:26 - 9:12 - 8:54 -8:50
Henes 5k - 16:06 - 15:49 - 15:31 - 15:18
Schweizer 3k - 9:25 - 9:17 - 9:06 - 8:41
Scott 3k - 9:41 - 9:18 - 9:02 - 8:52
Sisson 3k - 9:06 - 9:20 - 9:00 - 8:52
insult to thousand runners? youre the one thats having emotional claims with this one
katelyn does not belong to the thousand of them, she belongs to the top 50 in the world per world athletics, theres not much runners like katelyn tuohy whos able to win a ncaa title as a 20 year old sophomore.. why compare her trajectory to average runners? compare her trajectory to her fellow champions and girls with the same prs... but then again you cannot because no other american runner has ran 15:14 and 4:06 as a 20 year old -- so sick of the stupid trajectory talk ... yall have been proved wrong so many times yet you dont stop
The athletes that you listed all had much slower PRs at ages 15-16-17-18 than Tuohy. They made significant improvements that far exceed those that Tuohy has made. There are no US runners to really compare Tuohy to so your crazy predictions have no basis. None if us can know what her potential is. At least the rest of us can discuss the topic calmly and logically. You on the other hand, get emotional about discussing the topic.

this reply of yours applies to your reply above too ... clearly no one knows but i said a healthy tuohy will continue to progress, and you cannot accept that ... why?
No one knows. That is why you can't predict improvement. Mar Cain should be running 3:50 in the 1500 now. How about Hutchins? If you are claiming that the best at a particular age will be the best at a later age, Hutchins and Cook will be better than Tuohy every step of the way.
a healthy pro runner constantly PRing is expected to improve still, why not a healthy college runner ? is it because her name is katelyn tuohy?
a healthy young record breaking talented runner who PRd by alot also, is expected to improve but why cant someone who's just a year older not expected?
the double standards is a bit funny
im not claiming that, what im telling u is that, being this fast at 20 doesnt mean u have to be slow at 21 ... if shes healthy, continuously training with the best team and coach for her.. why are you expecting her to stagnate?
the mary cain talk is a bit out of place already... its not even relevant for comparison as shes not even in college
Besides the heat, it’s not the kind of race where she is likely to PR. One year in Sacramento, three runners at around 9:05 qualified for state. 2 of them tried to keep up with the leaders and ended up running 9:20+ while the 3rd ran a personal TT and got a PR. For this race, the pace is likely to be slow and I don’t see Touhy wanting to run 50+ meters ahead of the pack to shoot for a PR.
