A recent poll puts the support of US citizens for Ukraine at a 70 percent level. If you think that "all or most" are employees or direct shareholders of weapons manufacturers, you don't know much about the United States workforce and shareholding patterns.
I haven't seen a second of Blitzer, Cooper or Lemon coverage of the Ukraine situation and you are deluding yourself if you think many people are 'obedient followers' of those talking heads. I am not denying that media coverage has an effect on public perception, but the total picture is much more complicated. There is the fact that the US is in NATO and NATO and the US specifically have been named as the 'bad guy' by Putin. There is the national psyche of tending to support the underdog. There is a sense of the injustice of the invasion aside from media coverage. There is a belief that Putin is evil, based in large part on killing of political opponents, Russian actions in Syria, Chechnya and Crimea, and his pillage of Russian treasure for personal purposes.
Ultimately, resistance is Ukraine's choice. They can fight with Western support, or they can negotiate with at least some leverage due to perceived continued Western support. It appears that as of now, the choice of becoming, at best, a vassal state to a murderous thug and his troops who clearly have no regard for Ukrainian lives is not a desired choice.
