Because my new track coach is only three years older than me, and I know more than him I have chosen to coach myself. A decision that should have been made long ago. My cross-country coach is not my track coach, and my track coaches keep on getting fired or they quit. I'm a Senior now and I just got off a terrible xc season. I've been running all the appropriate mileage after cross, I took a break and eased into it, and now I have to figure out what to do with my next twenty weeks 0f training. I've decided to follow Jack Daniels' plan for 1,500-3,000 meter specialists, plan A. My main focus is going to be the three. A few questions, is it wrong of will it hurt me to combine some of the workouts between the A and B plan? There's just two or three workouts that I think I would like to switch. And if I start on his plan now, what kind of a difference will it make if let's say when track starts, I start to do completely different workouts than what he describes, I know to get the most out of a plan you have to follow it, but I can see there being problems when the team is doing there stupid workout and I'm doing something completely different. And I noticed that there is no hill running, how can I incorporate hills into my training plan? I'm looking to go under nine minutes for the 3,000 if that helps at all.
*Tinman and other knowleadgable people, you're help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch in advance.
