Background before the video...apparently the puncher was standing on the track the first time the punchee went by and the punchee shoved the kid out of the way. The puncher then either didn't leave the track or came back on or stood right on the edge and the punchee shoved him again, which is what led to the altercation. It is my understanding the police were called.
Seems that everytime certain people congregate, racist bile spews forth. This website is a prime example. The same people will happily turn around and accuse others of playing the "race card" though. Pure comedy.
At any rate, I hope both boys get punished. You don't get push people who are you in your way (that's called assault) and punching someone (also assault) is a disproportionate reaction to being pushed.
Given the backstory, the idea that only one of these boys committed a violent is truly bizarre, yet oh so predictable.
^ Moran alert! You think that you cannot push someone who is impeding your path on a track during a competition and that it is a criminal assault? Get real.
Why does the victim have to file charges in order for the animal who threw the punch to be prosecuted? Why is it up to the victim when charges should be brought regardless? There is video evidence of the crime!
The family of a high school track star who was sucker-punched during a race say they had wanted to press charges against his attacker but deputies had threatened to arrest their son if they'd done so.
It's the typical racist anonymous LR poster conflating a sport with a race they are afraid of and would never say to their face. Same thing happens in towns where basketball hoops are removed from parks because they attract young people who yell and swear and look scary.
lmao not afraid, just smart, look how easily the basketball-inclined resort to violence over the pettiest things. So if I avoid putting on a suit made of hamburger meat while running on a remote mountain trail in CO I must be more afraid than smart and that's a bad thing how????
This time it was at a baseball game today here in north Texas. Guy hit a home run and as he was going around third base the pitcher went after him for a blindsided tackle. It is on video but I am having trouble posting it.

Nothing “smart” about not so coyly referring to black people as Basketball Americans. It’s pretty pathetic.
This is disgusting. Cops will arrest you if you don't wear a mask outside in certain cities, but they won't arrest someone who is ON VIDEO ASSAULTING someone. The runner could have hit his head on the rail and died. I've seen people die from much less vicious punches. This is attempted manslaughter.
Cops are too busy wasting there time and your time with extra overtime crap. Example tail gate the living crap out of you until you eventually swerve a little because you are driving nervous with a cop on your real for 5-10 miles. They seriously waste our money with that crap but where are they when a real crime is in process no place to be found. Keep in my mind a number of cops have a high school education and are expected to know the law inside and out. The reality is they don't. The majority of people beat them in court with a lawyer.
Attempted Manslaughter - Attempted voluntary manslaughter is where the defendant committed, obtained, or was negligently culpable in an act that would have killed the victim but someone stopped the death or the defendant’s actions failed to kill the victim.
Punching someone in the back of the head is VERY likely to result in death. Everyone knows this. If you decide to punch someone in the back of the head you understand that there is a significant likelihood that your action could kill that person. It's even more dangerous because this runner was moving at high velocity, meaning the force in which he hits the ground is much stronger than if he were just standing still.
Any prosecutor in the country could win this attempted manslaughter case with ease.

Wrong! For any prosecutor to successfully win this case in Florida the following must happen:
For the defendant to be convicted of the crime of attempted voluntary manslaughter on the victim, the state prosecutor must prove: The victim would have died; and The defendant Either:Intentionally completed the acts that would have led to the death; Intentionally obtained as act that would have led to the death; or Was culpably negligent which would have caused the victim’s death.
Look at the very first requirement of proof. "The Victim would have died." No way a prosecutor can prove this when the runner got up and continued racing. Sue all you want--best case scenario--assault and battery.
BTW, the threshold for serious brain damage occurs at or about the point where you pass out. I don't think the puncher was aware of this, but you can cause very serious damage with a blow to the back of the head like that.
The runner got a concussion from the punch. The fact that he got up and tried run finish (but could not) could have caused even more serious injury or death. Just think about how serious concussion protocols are now. A concussion is a serious, traumatic brain injury that could have life-long effects. CTE is known to cause death.
If the guy died from the punch, it would have been manslaughter. Thus the fact that he didn't die makes it attempted manslaughter.
