Doesn't seem like he's making excuses at all. Even in that post he acknowledges that he felt fine leading up to the race, and he's already stated that Tefera was better on the day. Telling people you are sick and that they may have been exposed is the courteous thing to do.
Wow quite a plot twist! Hopefully he didn’t give it to Jon + Rojo during their interview - would suck to be stuck in Belgrade
Lol. What? Would suck to be stuck in Belgrade? Is Belgrade not woke enough for you? Not enough bums and feces in the street? Pretty sure I'd rather be stuck there than London, Paris, NYC, San Fran, etc.
Rojo and Jon don’t live in any of those places - not sure why you’re using those vs comparing to where they’d go if not quarantined
The LFT does not distinguish between the common cold/flu and what is branded 'Covid'. Using this as an excuse for winning just a silver is lame. Lots of athletes comptete with the sniffles and don't make excuses.

I think the one lives in Baltimore, right? That’s right up there with Cleveland.
Yeah, and those 2-3 millions just pretending to die from it - embarrassing.
Do you know anything about their states of health, lifestyles, upbringing etc? Serious question.
Not everyone it killed was fat old people. A guy I went to HS with died from it. He was barely 30 years old. Come to think of it he was also a distance runner. Nothing amazing. He had no chronic health problems. So there is no doubt Covid killed many people that had a lot of years left. Sad sh!t.
He had a good race, but not up to his expectations. You can’t win everything. Rudisha, Kipchoge, Decker. We all have off days. I’m not gonna listen to the interview, but the Covid thing is probably not an excuse. I’d assume it’s more like a notification. Blame it on Covid. Don’t blame it on Covid. I doubt a symptomatic person can run 3:31 with Covid. It’s was just a bad race. If silver at a world major is considered a bad race.

sidenote if you were to believe michael jordan worshippers they'd have you believe that he was undefeated lol
i think mosy people watching could tell something was off. i dont think it was just a tactical error. he was in bad shape whether because of covid or some other reason you could think of.
Wish we could discuss this without the weird deniers flooding and derailing the thread.
I’m 12 days removed from testing positive and still struggling on easy jogs. Sure, everyone reacts to Covid differently; but I’m still impressed Jakob was able to do what he did while sick.
