You inferred all that from the fact that I don’t trust her?
Your emotionally-based, hysterical judgment of an accomplished middle-aged gentleman absolutely screams "small dick energy". You are part of the writhing mass of keyboard bullies here who never accomplished anything of value in life yet cast pronouncements on the best of our society like fat medieval lord on his self-constructed throne of BS.
Glad to see Ajee on the splash page this morning. Between the madness of the culture in the last several years and her introverted personality, no athlete has been more short changed in recognition. Sure, most of us know how consistently great she was and is but more casual fans don't realize it.
I hate all this slow year crap. They announce when these olympic, world championship, and diamond league meets are going to happen well in advance. If you show up, you get to race for Gold. Among the folks who showed... AW won. That makes her the best, period. Because we dont know what anyone else would have run, or they are injured, or they are a man. Is Centro not a gold medalist because the idiots in his race let it go late? They knew the rules. Wait, maybe there's a thread about that too? Maybe Michaela Shiffrin should be given gold because technically she is the best, regardless of what happened that day. Talk about times all you want, but you have to race.
Apart from the issues relating to Semenya and Niyonsaba, Wilson was also, I believe, improperly overshadowed in the American media when Mary Cain was being touted as the next . . . whatever (Mary Decker? Great American Phenom?). It's really good to see her finally pick up a major championship gold.
I’ve known Ajee casually since she was in about fifth grade. She is a lovely, gracious young woman and everyone in the Jersey Shore track community is very proud of her. I should know better, but I resent those who speak I’ll of her.
AW deserves it, great run, sounds like a nice lady, and gold is gold. It's debatable whether it deserved a splash page, though. So-so time, weak field and (eyeroll) indoors.
Big deal. AW fastest of a SLOW YEAR, and MISSING Kelly Hodgkinson. Big deal. Also, not even a second faster than the best US HSer this year. Big deal.
The way that race played out, I am not sure Hodgkinson would have won. Hodgkinson has run a faster time, but that does not mean you will win a race. I've watched that WC finals race several times and I suspect Wilson could have easily gone out a half second faster and closed a half second faster in a foot race to the finish line. Wilson does not have good instincts for running fast times simply for the sake of running fast. She never has and probably never will run fast unless she has too. Keep in mind, she has run 1:55x, but runs over 90% of her races 1:58 - 2:00 flat. The few times she has run fast is when the race dictated it.
There's actually a lot of them. I've been to some races there and a quite of few runners show up. They aren't necessarily the fastest runners ever, but they love running.
Wilson was also, I believe, improperly overshadowed in the American media when Mary Cain was being touted as the next . . . whatever
The "American Media" covers track? I certainly haven't seen much track coverage in the media anymore outside of the Olympics, except for Mary Cain's "I Hate My Coach" article in the New York Times. Which "media" are you talking about that still covers track?
