People going gaga over Nur and Young, and Sprout but haven't heard of this guy. Nearly won this thing being just out-edged by Nur. And is the youngest guy there I believe. What's his story?
He was hardly close to winning.. Nur was smiling and cruising through the finish line while Robinson was kicking as hard as he could. Anyways, Robinson is an Australian import who placed 14th at NCAA XC last season and ran 13:21 at UW, so he's definitely much of not an unknown.
Seemed to me Robinson closed 75% of a gap that existed at the start of the final lap..which would explain him looking like he was kicking hard. Nur was holding on. And most definitely was not "cruising". I feel Robinson would have had this if he timed it better.

Nah, look at this video at the 14:40 minute mark. He knew he had it with 70m to go.
Northern Arizona's Abdihamid Nur finished first and recorded a meet record of 13:19.01 in the 5000m at the 2022 NCAA indoor track and field championship. Wat...

I feel you did not watch the same race as everyone else.
Nur looked fantastic out there the last laps and he wasn't going to be caught by anyone in this field. He really surprised me with how much speed he had in the kick, just effortlessly pulling away from the field. We knew he had the endurance and we learned he could run a 3:56 mile this year, but this was something else.

So what you're saying is that Robinson in fact did not close that 25 meter gap at the start of the final lap to a mere 5-6 meters at the end??

Set the Stanford school record last spring while finishing 6th at NCAAs in 8:32 for an U20 Australian record.
Going into this year his 5k pr was 13:51.
So, hasn't raced the 5k much at all.
Doubt he'll race from the back for the remainder of his college career.
Australia's found a gem . . .
Looks like Australia's favored to dominate the NCAA steeplechase this year. Ed Trippas ran 8:19 last year and Ky could probably get down to that range as well based on his recent 5k performances.
Nur won it easily and was cruising the last lap. He’s coming back for the 3,000 so no need to go flat out the last 150 with it in hand. Robinson looked good though, abd at age 20 one to watch.
One of Queensland's new young guns. Expect a lot of these young guys - Robinson, J Thomas etc to feature in Australia's Olympics/World Champs teams in the coming years.
