1. Moved to Turkey, Istanbul, to get away from pressure in Spain despite training at the high altitude high-performance center in Spain where conditions are ideal.
2. He’s convinced the training at altitude works and he states that the first 6 to 8 athletes and European cross-country or athletes who train at altitude before running in the championship.
3. His personality alternates between extroversion and introversion depending on his mood.
4. His favorite memory is running the diamond league 3000 m against Mo Farah in London many years ago where he gave him a good run for his money.
5. In the last few years his mileage has alternated between 165 to 210 km per week and sometimes he has ran four consecutive weeks at 250 km per week as a test.
6. He believes in running cross country for strength even though he concedes that specialist such as the Pole Lewandowski have an advantage in that they only focus on track training in winter and don’t run cross country.
7. In his home in Istanbul with his wife he has made a pact in which they do not talk about athletics for track and field at home.
8. He thinks the 1500 m is his best event.
9. He has run multiple sub 7:40s for 3000, but still not cracked sub 13 and 5000 but this is a work in progress. He needs to refine his training system to get under 30 minutes for 5000 m.
10. He has a job promise for when he finishes his career as a track runner with his local council in Spain to work in the school system for activities outside school for students including athletics.
11. He has a very happy relationship with New Balance and hopes to stay with them for life. (Ghost edit: this may change in the future I assume).
