Pretty sure they'll crack 16:10 🤯

Do you mean Brook Beast’s 16:03.68?
Ya, they have shot.
It will be hard, but they have a shot
3:58 + 4:00 + 4:01 + 4:04
Sir.
My JV school mates and I could easily run sub 16 for this bizarre "4 times 1 mile(?)" event on some wooden platform in an auditorium.
Sadly, we are unable to qualify for even a local secondary school competition here unless we are the 4 fastest at our school, which would require (assuming I did this unusual conversion right) far better than such pedestrian paces as 4 times 3:45 1500.
He was talking about the HS indoor record of 17:01. They are going to put it out of reach for like 100 years or untill we have bionic legs (or they break it again next year). 16:03 is a bit ambitious. You could probably add up their end of year times and get close to that, but doing it all in one race while lapping every team in the field is tough.

I agree that it is quite ambitious and very unlikely.
However, It’s crazy to think that they actually have a shot (5% chance)
What if they continue to improve in the next 6 weeks..
Colin ran most of his 3:58 in lane 2 and 3…. He already has a 3:56 in him,,,

Wow, running 800m in lane 2 and 3 definitely will add a lot of time.
A couple weeks ago Sean Brosnan said 4 of his runners would break 8:30 for 2 miles this year. I think he may be right. 7.57 translates to 8:35 indoors and in early February. Maybe 4 guys between 8:20 and 8:30

My guess is in the 16:20- 16:30 range.
If they’re all healthy they’re breaking 16:20. Colin is a sub 4 runner now and the three juniors have sub 4:05’s in them at least Lex and Aaron based on their 3k performances today. Great day I would put them around 16:10, but closer to 16:20
it is so hard to run 4 near PRs in a relay, but these 4 are easily 30-40 seconds ahead of the 4:15 + average of the current record.
Sean is talking 4:02-ish average for a 4x1
Wait I knew the youngs were twins but I didn't realize the other 2 in the top 4 were brothers also. Will both young and a sahlman be back next year?
Newbury's Top 8:
Colin Sahlman - 12
Leonard Young - 11
Lexington Young - 11
Aaron Sahlman - 11
Daniel Appleford - 12
Hector Martinez - 11
Dev Doshi - 10
Aaron Cantu - 11
Appleford and Cantu were out due to injury/sickness for much of Cross, and they still ran 14:40s & 15:30s

Here's a funny story kind of related:
I coached the winner of the race in high school. One Saturday night I get a call from an upset member of the team. SHE got a call from a student working a wedding reception. People at one of her tables were talking about how the runners at our school MUST have been on PED's! LOLOLOL
I just thought it was a funny coincidence that this came up for this race (albeit as a joke, I hope).

It may not seem as hard as you think once they start lapping people……and they will really quickly.

No there is not. There’s a lot of reasons to cheat too. Full scholarships and pro contracts.

Likely by some 20 seconds.
I live about 15 miles from Newbury Park and they are doing something that has never been seen before in HS distance running. But as a Domer... I have to point out that someone else entered the all-time 3000 HS list yesterday. Notre Dame signee Izaiah Steury, an Ethiopian refugee who was adopted by an Indiana couple in 2013, ran against college runners at the Mayo Invitational yesterday. The race was won in 8:01.50. Izaiah clocked an 8:08. Go Irish (too!)

American Fork ran a 4x1600 in 16:41 outdoors. convert that to 16:47 for 4xmile. I'd see NP running 16:20-25. It's so hard to all run near PRs in a 4xmile relay when they are likely all on their own besides lapping runners late in the race
