Pretty sure he just means Meb had already won NYC and medaled at the Olympics. 2014 Boston was a surprise for sure, but Meb already had won major marathons.

So then Meb winning silver or NYC would be the biggest of his stories
Wejo forgot that many East Africans live in huts and below the poverty line. Sifan Hassan is a god damn refugee. Get your head out of your ass. And keira isn’t rich and she wasn’t in rags.
Let me phrase that better (and I’ll correct up top)
Meb winning Boston was pretty cool but he was already was an Olympic silver medalist. (And had won NY so he was constantly surprising us)

Meb, also, was average. He also lived in a refugee camp. He busted his ass and became great. How can you be this out of touch?
You are wrong. Might not even be this weeks coolest story with Stetson Bennetts championship.

Huh? Which is it? Are you saying it’s the “coolest” story or the best “rags to riches” story, or are you saying that rags to riches stories are cool, Mr. Silver Spooned Elitish
And then wouldn’t Meb winning NYC be the cooler story?
Use your words
Brian Sell making the Olympics in 2008 is a bigger deal and better story. Running a fast time in an event where routes are not standard and it is very weather/course dependent just leaves me a bit colder.

meh. rags to doped to the gills.
Radcliffe: from an also-ran (getting dropped easily on the last lap) to multiple world records;
Ramzi: from an also-ran (getting dropped...) to multiple Gold medals;
Farah: from an also-ran (getting...) to multiple Gold medals;
Houlihan: from a 15:49 PR at age 22 to a 14:23 and multiple American and world records.
Rags to riches, Wejo??
She grew up in Fairfax County, VA. Went to Oakton High School.
This is hardly "rags".
Fairfax County is the 2nd highest per capita and family income in Virginia. Their school system is one of the nation's best and Oakton high school is at top of the high schools in Fairfax County.

I just called Jon Gault with the statement above and he said maybe this decade.To prove me wrong, you must post a better rags to riches story.Dreams do become reality.Meb winning Boston was pretty cool but he was already was an Olympic silver medalist.
Lopez Lomong really puts Kiera's story in perspective in terms of "rags to riches"

37 yrs old, decade away from the sport and breaks an American record running an amazing time. Why does no one question the legitimacy of this? We question and suspect everyone else that runs fast.

Very few American men can run 2:15.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
