really, blows my mind...

1) Do you know that she posts all her training on Strava? If not, the numbers are low.
2) Strava goes Monday through Sunday by default. If you go Sunday through Saturday, as some do, 82 is not her biggest week.
Typical argument from those obsessed with mileage. "She probably doesn´t record all of her runs". Do you have any idea how stupid that sounds.
To tie this in with the recent Chris O'Hara retirement thread, I didn't see anything about the prize money won by her. Seems she did not get an appearance fee, as Houston doesn't use that strategy?
I'm sure she has a nice bonus clause in her Nike contract too.
Congrats to KD!
(Watched the race on the Longhorn channel and it was a terrible production. )
Record courses don't need to be a complete loop; they just need the start and finish to be within a certain distance of each other.
I'm not obsessed with mileage, and don't really care about her runs. Someone else does, and I was just pointing out the erroneous assumptions.
If she records every single one of her runs, and did 50 mpw, I couldn't care less; different strokes for different folks.
I always thought Htown had too much cement. Anybody actually run this course that can comment.

Here is the course route. You can see how close the finish is to the start.

Patti Catalano Dillon back in the early 1980's. No high school or college running background. Got down to 2:27 (Boston) at one point and was dominant among American road runners.
http://www.pattispeaks.com/about.htmlwow. what a run. either we are:
Squandering our female talent--Kiera Carlstrom was a great athlete in high school but struggled thereafter or
she's doping like Shelbo800.
Time will tell.

I ran Houston in 1990 and 1991 and it was the only marathon I've ever run that gave me massively sore feet from the hardness of the road surface. I have no idea how similar the current course is to the one I ran eons ago.

She didn't have her best college performances in track, but in cross country. She was 6th at NCAAs as a senior, ahead of future Olympians Amy Cragg (Nee Hastings) in 13th, Molly Huddle (15th), Jenny Simpson (Nee Barringer) in 43rd, Shannon Rowbury (55th), as well as some other big names. also was 16th as a sophomore and 17th as a Junior
Keira has always been a big talent, but her college track PRs didn't reflect that. Definitely not "out of nowhere"
So, what is the super shoe conversion on this performance? Where does it fall in the All time list in that regard? Obviously Deena's record was pre super-shoe and superior.

I've always recorded my training Monday through Sunday because races on weekends can be either day.
This makes a lot more sense than splitting up the weekend between two different weeks.

Two records? Course must be short
Hall's 67:15 record is very soft. Equates to a 2:21 marathon. Hardly, a mark that warrants suspicion for a 2:20 marathoner who just finished a round of 10k training half a year ago. Not even a great performance for Hall, just good.
Would this race been an entry to the World Championships? Now that the selection process has changed. And the US already has the chosen athletes.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
