if you were asked by someone who is already serious about training, but who is unattached, who'd you say is the man in new york to deliver results?

Westchester Track Club.
Columbia's coach knows his stuff. Look at who he has produced over the past five years- some amazing times. I do not know if he works with post-collegiates though. You should definitely contact him.
the coach of fordham hands down
greg govan.
I agree with the Swiss dude.....Westchester Track Club
You will have to deliver the results, but Mike Barnow of Westchester Track Club is probably the best and most accessible coach in the area.
I run for a different club in NYC, but Westchester Track Club has the best coaching for a serious post collegiate runner.
Columbia coach has coached guys to 1:48, 3:43, 8:43(steeple), 13:55, and 29:00 in the last couple of years. Hands down the top coach in th city.
I agree. Four Columbia alums just ran between 2:28-2:32 in thei marathon debut. This debate is stupid!
This is not a debate but presenting the guy with reasonable options, i.e., for a good post collegiate coach in the NY area.
What I know is Mike Barnow has coached a guy from scratch to winning the Kenyan 10,000 meters Olympic Trials, a 1:46. 800m runner and one guy he coaches daily just ran a 2:18 marathon and has a pr of 2:15..
What about Warren Street in New York city? I might be interested as I live in NYC.
Is NYAC a true club or do they just contract athletes?
